EMI2.2
setzungen in anderer Proportion denkbar.

Material for the post-acceleration spiral of cathode ray tubes
The invention relates to a material for the post-acceleration spiral of cathode ray tubes which contains graphite.
As is well known, in cathode ray tubes the electrons from the electron beam system against the fluorescent screen are accelerated on their trajectory to form electrons. The direct current flows in a vertical direction on the inner wall of the cathode ray tube bulb and on the longitudinal axis of the tube.

commonly made from one type of coal, namely soot. On the inner wall of the cathode ray tube, on which a part closer to the luminescent screen and a part closer to the neck were previously coated with graphite (anode part), i. H. The soot suspension is applied in line form to the pure glass surface between the two graphite-coated surface parts using any writing instrument.
The beginning of the line touches one and the end of the line touches the other graphite-coated surface part.
This is followed by drying and then heat treatment at around 4500C. The heat treatment serves to remove the volatile components (partly also by means of oxidation) from the graphite-coated surfaces and the resistance spiral. After the heat treatment, the assembly unit is installed and the cathode ray tube evacuated.
The manufacturing process and the construction of the cathode ray tubes are described in more detail e.g. R. in the book by W. Espe: Materials of High Vacuum Technology (Vol. IIL P. 146 to 147, mainly 177,

[1961]. VEB, suspensions are very sensitive to the oxidation occurring at the temperature of the heat treatment.
It follows from this that the cross section of the post-acceleration spiral formed on the surface is reduced, u. Because of the different circumstances of the heat treatment and the associated gas purging, it is also locally uneven, so the spiral resistance is difficult to control

which under the circumstances of the heat treatment, the assembly and the evacuation of the cathode ray tube is only minimally, insignificantly insensitive to oxidation and its resistance value is therefore constant and easily adjustable. The invention essentially consists in the fact that the material also contains graphite, nickel and / or cobalt oxide as components ground with distilled water in a ball mill.
If the suspension prepared from the mixture of nickel and / or cobalt oxide and graphite is used to produce a post-acceleration spiral in the known manner already described, it is shown that the resistance produced meets the requirements.
In order to explain the essence of the invention in more detail and at the same time to make it more obvious, two exemplary embodiments are described in more detail below.
example 1
50 g cobalt oxide (Cos04)
20 g graphite (fine-grain electrographite is advisable)
350 ml dist. water
100 g of sodium water glass solution are ground in a ball mill for 250 h, then the mass is mixed with 1.5 g of fatty alcohol sulfonate and - taking into account the lubricity - adjusted to the appropriate viscosity. The mass is applied to the inner wall of the cathode ray tube by means of a writing implement in a spiral form and then the cathode ray tube - after drying and heat treatment has taken place - fully assembled in the manner already described.
As a guide, it should be noted that in the usual oscilloscope tubes the resistance value of the post-acceleration spiral (after the heat treatment has taken place) is in the range of 20 to 200 MQ,
Example 2
EMI2.1
30 g nickel oxide (NiO)
15 g of graphite are ground in a ball mill for 250 h and otherwise the procedure is as in Example 1.
EMI2.2
Settlements in other proportions are conceivable.
The advantages that can be achieved by means of the invention are broadly as follows:
Above all, it should be emphasized that if the composition and the grain size are strictly adhered to, the exact resistance value can be ensured. The invention also has the advantages that the existing equipment and the technological sequence can be retained, but the substance used is at the same time insensitive to oxidation and at the same time inexpensive.
