Process for the production of plastics by reacting polyvalent aldehydes with diamines
EMI1.1

However, these disadvantages can be largely mitigated or eliminated if, instead of these nitrogen-free dialdehydes, according to the invention, nitrogen-containing di-, trifunctional and tetrafunctional aldehydes, as described in Austrian Patent No. 213384 from a large number of different, easily accessible compounds ( e.g. acid amides) are to be prepared with little technical effort, used as aldehyde component. In contrast to the nitrogen-free aldehydes listed, these nitrogen-containing oligoaldehydes are capillary-active, which makes mixing or homogenization with the reactants, catalysts, etc. considerably easier and only enables them to be added to the mixture of insoluble polymerizable substances.
When these plastics produced in this way are used as casting resins, this has the further advantage that the mixed, non-condensed resin is reinforcement inserts, such as B. glass fibers, glass fiber fabrics and mats are particularly effective, which results in a significant advantage in the processing of such casting resins.
The plastics according to the invention also have a higher temperature resistance, lower hardness and lower brittleness than the corresponding condensates which are produced with the aid of non-nitrogenous aldehyde components.
EMI2.1
Leave the substance at room temperature for 5 hours and then gradually increase the temperature
Hardened 1500C. A clear, pale yellow colored condensate is obtained.
Example 2: 110 parts by weight of powdered hexamethylenediamine are dissolved in a nitrogen atmosphere in a mixture of 160 parts by weight of formamide-acrolein condensate and 1 part by weight of tricresyl phosphate. After about 15 minutes the solution solidifies like a gel and hardens after 12 hours of storage at room temperature. Curing with a gradual increase in temperature up to 1300C results in a transparent, slightly reddish colored synthetic resin with a high surface hardness.
Example 3: The mixture given in Example 2 is emulsified in 45 parts by weight of monostyrene and. stored as an emulsion. After adding 0.1 to 0.5 parts by weight of benzoyl peroxide, the emulsion clears with gelling and is cured as in Example 2.
Example 4: The procedure is as indicated in Example 3, except that diallyl phthalate is used instead of styrene.
Example 5: The procedure is as indicated in Example 3, except that triallyl cyanurate is used instead of styrene.
Example 6 The procedure is as indicated in Example 3, except that acrylonitrile is used instead of styrene. In contrast to Example 3, the mixture dissolves in acrylonitrile with heating.
After solidification, hardening is carried out as described in Example 2.
Example 7: The procedure is as indicated in Example 3, except that ethyl acrylate is used instead of styrene. The plastics obtained are similar to the product of Example 3.
Example 8: 60 parts by weight of finely powdered urea are suspended in 170 parts by weight of formamide-acrolein condensate and, after addition of 3 parts by weight of 35% hydrochloric acid or a solution of 1 part by weight of Na in 100 parts by weight Ethanol heated to 1000C for 6 hours with stirring and, after the addition of 0.1 parts by weight of benzoyl peroxide, cured at 1200C, resulting in a transparent, pale yellow colored soft resin. The precondensate has capillary-active properties.
EXAMPLE 9 A solution of 105 parts by weight of finely powdered p-phenylenediamine in the required amount of boiling ethanol is mixed with 160 parts by weight of formamide-acrolein condensate after cooling to 55-60 ° C. and the excess alcohol is mixed with thorough stirring. evaporated. The highly viscous syrup remaining as residue is hardened at 80 ° C.
Example 10: 105 parts by weight of finely powdered hexamethylenediamine are reacted and cured with 170 parts by weight of acetamide-acrolein condensate under the conditions specified in Example 2. The plastic has similar properties to the product of Example 2.
Example 11: In a mixture of 346 parts by weight of formamide-acrolein condensate, 170 parts by weight
EMI2.2
The solution which solidifies for minutes is cured under the conditions specified in Example 2, a hard, elastic, temperature-resistant plastic being obtained.
