Mask frames for photographic copiers
The invention relates to a mask frame for photographic copiers with four adjustable mask straps, two of which are simultaneously set in opposite directions by means of toothed racks arranged on them by a common gear wheel operated by means of a rotary knob.
With mask frames of the aforementioned type, the individual mask strap pairs are usually adjusted separately by hand. Sometimes two mask bands are combined to form an angle mask, which can then be moved along the diagonal of the normal image format.
The coupling of the mask pairs via cable gears is also known. To adjust, however, you have to attack the mask straps directly there. In addition, the guidance of the mask straps is imprecise due to the elasticity of the ropes and the slip between the ropes and pulleys.
The purpose of the invention is, on the one hand, to simplify the operation of the mask adjustment, in particular to spare the operator lengthy considerations when a normal aspect ratio of the image format, e.g. B. 'Y2: 1 is retained for DIN formats from small passport photos to postcards, on the other hand, the greatest possible setting accuracy should be guaranteed. This is based on the Bauari mentioned at the beginning. the gears of each mask pair are arranged coaxially one above the other and their pitch circle diameters matched so that they correspond to the aspect ratio of the image format. All four mask straps can thus be controlled by the common operating handle.
The mask adjuster should be detachably coupled to at least one of the two mask pairs. This makes it possible to set picture formats whose aspect ratio deviates from the normal value V2: 1. It is then expedient to first set the detachable pair of masks to the specified value with the clutch closed and then adjust the other pair of masks after the clutch has been released.
In order for the uncoupled pair of masks to maintain their position, according to a further proposal of the invention, they are provided with a lock which is automatically closed when the coupling is released. Instead of a form-fitting lock, a brake or clamping connection can optionally also be provided.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, two mutually perpendicular, movable mask strips are provided with adjustable paper stops connected to a common margin width adjuster. Paper stops arranged on two sides of the format and coupled to one another are known per se, but so far could only be attached to fixed angle masks. According to the invention, however, the supports of the stops can be adjusted themselves to set a new image format without changing the edge width. Both settings are therefore completely independent of each other,
The device for adjusting the margin width is relatively simple if the adjuster is provided on one of the two mask bands and is connected to a paper stop on the other movable mask band via a coupling.
Operation is more convenient, however, if, according to a further feature of the invention, the edge width adjuster is arranged fixed to the housing and is connected to the adjustable paper stops via a differential gear.
The differential gear can, for example, have a pin-and-slot connection with a slot guide which extends in a manner known per se in the adjustment direction of the mask tape and which can be adjusted parallel to the mask tape to change the edge width.

Format setting onlyIf a different format, in particular a normal format, is then to be set, the setting must first be turned back into the coupling position, the bore 22 engaging over the pin 23 under the action of the coupling spring 33. The lock between 29 and 30 is released again, so that all four mask straps are moved along with the further rotation, the aspect ratio u2: 1 being retained.
37 with an adjuster for the edge width is referred to, which is also mounted in a manner not shown on the cover plate 2 and by means of a pointer 38 the respectively set edge width on a
Scale 39 indicates. A pinion 40 is in turn firmly connected to the adjuster 37 and meshes with teeth 41 of strips 42, 43 which, similar to the strips 8-11, are guided on the cover plate 2 so as to be displaceable via pins 44. The bar 42 has an arm 45 bent at right angles with a slot 46
EMI3.1
Bar 43 such an arm device of the mask bands 4, 5 and the slot 4ss parallel to the adjustment direction of the mask bands 6, 7.
An angle lever 49 is pivotably mounted on the mask strap 4 via a bolt 50. At one end there is a pin 51, which engages in the slot 46, at its other end a pin 52, which is designed as a paper stop. An angled lever 53 mounted in the same way on the mask tape 6 has pins 54 and 55 which act in the same way. An angle lever 56, which is essentially configured identically to the angle lever 49 and arranged in the same position, is connected in parallel to it via a coupling rod 57 and likewise has a paper stop 52a. Of course, further transmission elements can also be provided.
In particular, it is possible to use the lever or angle lever 49 to control a slide which has a contact surface or two point stops for the paper edge so that a second parallel stop is not necessary.
This means that the format size and width can be set independently of one another using the adjuster 15 and 37 at any time. When the image format is adjusted via the mask bands, the pins 51, 54 slide in the slots 46, 48 without the position of the stops 52, 52a, 55 relative to their mask bands 4 and 6 changing. The photographic papers can be placed from above on tie mask bands and aligned with the three stops. The paper is then pressed against the masking tapes by a copier cover, which is not shown for the sake of clarity. Recesses for the angle levers 49, 56, 53 and for the edge width adjustment gear are provided in the copy cover.
A scale 58 protruding at right angles from this is attached to the bar 43 for displaying the picture format set in each case or the largest side length in the case of unusual picture formats. The individual scale lines 59 end in a point or circle 60. A pointer 61 is attached to the mask tape 6 and is inclined at 450 to the scale 58. When this pointer intersects a point 60, based on the external dimensions of the photographic paper, the required position of all four mask bands is automatically determined. The angle of 450 assumes that the edges of the image should have the same width. If, for example, the edge is to be made wider on the narrower side than on the longer side, another setting angle must be selected.
If necessary, the pointer 61 can therefore also be adjustably connected to the mask strap 6. Any intermediate values can be applied to the scale 58, which make it possible to read off the image height set via the pinion 14, especially in the case of abnormal image formats.
According to Fig. 3, a single angle lever 62 is used in place of the two angle levers 49, 56, which is also mounted via a bolt 63 on the mask tape 4 and engages with a pin 64 in the slot 46, but does not directly carry the paper stop, but with a stop plate 65 is coupled via a further pin-and-slot connection 66. The stop plate 65 is guided displaceably via a guide plate 67 perpendicular to the front edge 4a of the mask tape 4 and has two projections 68 against which the photographic paper can be placed.
