<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a further embodiment of the image setting device for single-lens reflex cameras, in particular 35 mm cameras according to patent no. 164363, which gives an upright, laterally correct viewfinder image, which by means of a prism system is designed by a lens in an image setting plane (e.g. on a focusing screen) Makes image observable with a viewing direction essentially parallel to the lens axis.
The essence of the image adjustment device according to the parent patent is that the beam entrance surface or the beam exit surface is used as a totally reflecting surface or both surfaces are used for directing the light beam within the prism system.
A special embodiment according to the parent patent is that in connection with a roof prism a mirror prism is provided, in which the beam reflected back onto the beam entrance surface hits it at such an angle that this beam entrance surface has a totally reflective effect, so that only after a further back reflection The bundle of rays emerges from this area, which accordingly simultaneously forms the exit area.
To observe the viewfinder image, a magnifying lens system is switched into the beam path. The possible enlargement is the greater the shorter the beam path within the prism system.
To achieve this effect and to obtain it with a prism system that is as small and light as possible, the essence of the further configuration of the image setting device when using a prism system consisting of two interacting prisms is that the beam entry surface of each of the prism bodies or at least the beam entry surface of the prism body facing the eye reflects the inner beam path as a totally reflective surface.
The further embodiment of the image adjustment device aims to be able to place the same on the camera with the shortest possible beam path so that the magnifying eyepiece protrudes sufficiently far to the rear that while keeping the rear wall of the camera free for the arrangement of cassettes and the like. Like. The eye can be brought close to the eyepiece without obstruction of the facial profile (nose). In a further development, one of the prisms itself is designed as a roof prism in such a way that the roof surfaces direct the beam path onto the beam entry point that acts as a totally reflective surface.
EMI1.1
Furthermore, one or more of the reflective prism surfaces are designed as a concave mirror or a connection therewith also as a convex mirror, or one of the prism surfaces itself is ground as a converging lens surface.
Special designs also consist in the fact that the viewfinder is optionally made suitable for viewing from behind and from above, and that magnifying glasses that magnify to different degrees are provided which can optionally be switched into the beam path.
In the drawing, the prism system according to the invention is shown in FIGS. 1-10 in exemplary embodiments. 11-14 show examples of a reflex camera in a rear view and cross-section with a built-up prism system according to FIGS. 1 and 2. FIGS. 15-22 show analogous representations of devices for optional viewing from behind and from above.
The course of the main ray is shown in all figures.
1 shows a single prism body 1 in which the beam path through the roof edge surfaces, the intersection lines of which are denoted by 4, is thrown back onto the entry surface 5 and exits obliquely backwards and upwards. By placing the glass wedge 1 'in front, it is made possible, as FIG. 2 shows, that the beam path emerges horizontally to the rear, since the prism facing the eye can be arranged correspondingly tilted.
In the example of FIG. 3, the
Light rays entering surface 5 are reflected back on the mirrored surface 7 against the entry surface, totally reflected on the entry surface 5 and pass through the surface 8 into the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Raise the prism 2. The beam path is reversed due to the roof edge surfaces between the ridge edge 3 and the intersection edges 4. It is reflected on the entry surface 9 and exits through the surface 6. If, as a result of the convergence of the light bundle, the angle of total reflection on the surface 9 should be undershot, the part of the surface 8 projecting beyond the surface 8 can be mirrored.
In the example according to FIG. 4, the prism 1 is designed as a roof prism. The part 5 ′ of the prism adjoining the entrance surface 5 is inclined towards the surface 5 so that the beam which passes into the prism 2 and is reflected on the mirror surface 10 is reflected on the entrance surface 9 of the prism 2 and exits horizontally.
In the example according to FIG. 5, which essentially corresponds to that according to FIG. 1, the surface 7 is designed as a concave mirror which acts to enlarge the image.
In the example according to FIG. 6, which essentially corresponds to FIG. 4, the surface part 5 ′ adjoining the surface 5 is made usable as a concave mirror.
Further variants according to the basic arrangement according to FIG. 4 are shown in FIGS. 7-10.
In Fig. 7, the surface 10 is designed as a concave mirror. For manufacturing reasons, this concave mirror can, as FIG. 8 shows, be formed by a planoconvex lens 11 which is mirrored on the curved surface and cemented onto the surface 10.
In the example according to FIG. 9, the surface 5 ′ is designed as a concave, the surface 10 as a convex mirror surface, whereby the effect of a Brück magnifying glass is achieved.
The same effect is achieved according to FIG. 10 in that the surface 10 is configured as a concave mirror surface and the surface 6 is configured as a diverging lens surface. The concave surface can be formed in the same way as in FIG. 6 by a cemented planoconvex lens.
It is known per se to cement lens surfaces onto prism surfaces. By grinding surfaces acting as lenses on prisms themselves, the advantage is achieved that the beam path can be shorter, since cemented-on lenses must at least have a certain thickness. Using mirrored lens bodies which act as concave mirrors and which are cemented onto a prismatic surface results in the advantage of a simpler production method compared to the direct grinding of such convex surfaces which act as concave mirrors. With what has been said, it should also be taken into account that
Concave surfaces that act as diverging lenses (e.g.
6 in Fig. 10) grind the prism body more easily than convex surfaces.

To be able to bring a cramped head position close to the eyepiece.
FIGS. 15-22 show four exemplary embodiments of viewfinder arrangements which, by simply adjusting a component, allow the viewfinder to be adapted for viewing from behind, at least approximately parallel to the objective axis, or from above at least approximately perpendicularly. The view from above is particularly useful for scientific recordings of objects close to the ground and the like. The like. Often desired.
In the example according to FIGS. 15-17, the prism 2, which corresponds to the prism in FIG. 14, is mounted in a special housing 13 which is rotatable about the axis A-A perpendicular to the surfaces 8 and 9. Depending on the rotation, the prism together with the viewing magnifier 12 moves into the position according to FIG. 16 for viewing from behind or rotated by 90 D into the position according to FIG. 17 for viewing from above. 18 and 19 is next to the prism 2, which the ray

prism 2 'arranged, which throws the beam path upwards. The prisms are arranged displaceably in a housing socket 13 'on the camera, so that either the prism 2 or 2' can be switched into the beam path coming from the prism 1. The prisms 2 and 2 'are each assigned a magnifying glass 12 and 12'.
In the example according to FIGS. 20 and 21, two prisms 2, 2 ′ are also connected downstream of the prism 1, but are assigned to different surfaces of the prism 1. Between the one exit face 8 of the prism 1 and the entry face 9 of the prism 2 ′, an at most slightly wedge-shaped displaceable glass plate 13 is inserted, which is mirrored over half of its length. If it is shifted so that the clear surface lies between surfaces 8 and 9, the beam path hits prism 2 'and is mirrored upwards. However, if the mirrored part lies between the surfaces 8 and 9, the beam path is mirrored downwards and through the roof prism 2 'to the rear.
Two different magnifications are often desired for viewfinders. The weaker one for general orientation about the image section and the stronger one for the final focus. The viewfinder according to FIG. 22 serves this purpose. The prism 1 is in the rotatable position
Ball socket 13 is mounted, with which it is analogous to FIGS. 16 and 17 by means of the button 16 around the surface perpendicular to the entry surface of the prism 2
Axis A-A can be rotated by 90 D. A second shell 15, which carries the two magnifying glasses 12 and 12 ′, is rotatably seated on this shell.
For greater magnification, the magnifying glass 12 can be used as
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Brücksch% magnifying glass can be designed with a positive and a negative element, whereby it is easily possible to achieve a much higher magnification with the same back focus as with the simple magnifying glass 12, but at the expense of the field of view. The shell 15 can also be rotated about the axis A-A by means of the knurled edge 14, so that in both positions of the prism 2 the weaker and the stronger magnification can be switched on as desired.
