III-III in Fig. 1.

Floor covering, carpet or the like.

The invention relates to a floor covering, carpet or the like, which consists of strips which are obtained in a known manner by cutting up the running mantles of wheel tires and are connected to one another in the manner of a fabric or mesh.

In order to be able to produce such floor coverings, carpets or the like in great lengths (up to 160 m) and to obtain a pleasantly patterned, elastic step surface that prevents slipping, the arrangement according to the invention is such that the strips are in such a way Floor covering, carpets or the like are located in such a way that their cut surfaces, in which rubber and insert alternate, formed by a cutting line essentially parallel to the wheel plane, form the tread surface. The pieces of fabric that come out in the tread and alternate with the rubber secure the foot against slipping.

In the drawing, a carpet produced according to the invention is illustrated as an exemplary embodiment. Fig. 1 shows it in plan view, Figs. 2 and 3 are sections along the lines 11-11 and III-III in Fig. 1.

The floor covering, carpet or the like shown consists of the longitudinal strips a, which are parallel to one another at small intervals and which form the chain strips of the fabric or braid to be produced, and the perpendicular to these in a corresponding bond (for example

parallel to the plane of the wheel are preserved, they show on one of their two narrow end faces a thin strip a ', b' of the rubber lining of the wheel tire, while in their wider upper and lower surface some layers of rubberized canvas come to light, giving a characteristic pattern of the lining and the friction between the foot and the surface and between the surface and the floor is increased.
