Steam inlet valve for jet pumps that opens against the boiler steam pressure.
Jet pumps are used to supply the boiler steam through a steam inlet valve that can be opened manually against the steam pressure. For larger jet pumps, a relatively large inlet valve cross section is necessary so that the valve can be opened against the boiler pressure
Measures are necessary to enable easy opening by hand. If a screw valve is used for this purpose, it takes a relatively long time until the full valve cross-section is released. From the start of opening until the full cross-section is released, the injector then loses an unnecessary amount of steam and water.
It is therefore customary to use relieved valves that can be actuated by means of a lever, the relief being achieved through a piston attachment of the valve body, which leads into a bore and thereby delimits a space between the boiler and jet pump on the one hand via the clearance between
Piston attachment and bore and on the other hand via an opening controlled by an auxiliary valve is switched on, the same rod first opening the auxiliary valve and only after this the inlet valve.
After opening the auxiliary valve, the steam flows out of the space mentioned to the jet pump, and the steam that flows through the clearance between the piston attachment and the bore to this space
Boiler steam automatically pulls the inlet valve from the seat due to its flow energy.
Relief devices of this type have the disadvantage, however, that the inlet valve is suddenly torn from its seat, as a result of which the valve is opened intermittently and thus steam is also intermittently fed to the nozzle system. This burst of steam disturbs the jet formation very much and the jet pump is difficult to get started.
The present invention provides a means of overcoming the drawbacks mentioned.
According to the invention, the piston attachment of the inlet valve body is designed in such a way that its boundary edge, which when the piston attachment is moved in the direction of the valve opening stroke, finally leaves the bore leading to the piston attachment, only protrudes a distance into the guide bore when the inlet valve is closed, which is smaller than the opening stroke of the inlet valve which is just sufficient for the operation of the jet pump. This means that after the auxiliary valve is opened, the inlet valve is initially relieved of pressure. which, however, after a short lift of the inlet valve is still canceled when the throttle position is insufficient for the jet pump operation, so that the mentioned edge of the
Piston approach emerges from the hole leading him.
From this moment on, the inlet valve is loaded again, but no longer by the full boiler steam pressure, so that it can be opened by means of the
Movement rods can be operated emotionally and a safe start of the jet pump is guaranteed.
The attached drawing shows an embodiment of the device according to the invention in a vertical longitudinal section.
The boiler steam flows to the inlet valve housing 1 of a steam jet pump at 2. The

which connects the boiler line 2 to the line connection 6 leading to the jet pump.
The relief device consists in that the valve body a has a central bore 7 which has a sealing seat 8 for the auxiliary valve 9 at the top. At the top, the valve body 3 is shell-shaped and carries guide ribs 10 which guide it into the bore 12 of the screwing 1. 3. The lower edge 14 of the piston extension 11 protrudes when the valve 3 is closed, as the figure shows,

Line connection 6.
Axially with the auxiliary valve 9 and the inlet valve 3, to actuate these valves from the space of the valve housing connected to the line connection 6 via a stuffing box 17, a rod 18 is guided into the open air, which by the angle lever 21 rotatable about the eye 20
Handle 22 is displaceable, one arm of the lever 21 engaging the transverse pin 19 of the rod 18.
When the lever 21 is rotated in the direction of the arrow, the push rod 18 pushes open the auxiliary valve 9 with its upper, hook-shaped end, whereby the valve delimited by the piston 11 in the cap M
Cavity 16 comes into connection with the space leading to the consumption line connection 6.
In this case, boiler steam flows from the space 2 via the clearance between the piston attachment 11 and the bore 12 into the cavity 16. This very violent steam flow tears the inlet valve J from its seat 4 and suddenly moves it upwards until the lower boundary edge 14 of the piston attachment 11 slides over the upper boundary edge 15 of the bore 12 and the boiler steam is given free access to the space 16, whereby the relief of the valve 3 ceases.
This partial stroke of the valve. 3, which is denoted by a in the drawing, is now chosen according to the invention only so large that the valve 3 at the end of the same is still in a throttling position which is not sufficient for operating the jet pump.
The further opening of the valve 3 until the jet pump is started can now take place emotionally without relief by hand, because in the space of the valve housing connected to the consumption line connection 6 under the inlet valve. 3 there is already sufficient steam tension so that the closing force exerted by the boiler pressure on valve 3 from above can easily be overcome by hand.
As can be seen from the above, the inlet valve 3 makes the relieved partial stroke a suddenly during its opening. It is customary to set up locomotive jet pumps in such a way that they allow the steam to be fed back into the water tank for the purpose of protecting the water pipe and the water tank from freezing. In this with "rewarming" designated
Process, the slack valve is closed and the steam inlet valve is opened a little. Now, however, the partial lift a of the inlet valve 3, within which it is not possible to control it by feeling, is too large for rewarming.
In order to still be able to set a sufficiently small amount of steam when heating back, the auxiliary valve 9 is now used for this purpose according to the invention. For this purpose it carries a piston extension 23 which protrudes into the auxiliary valve opening 7 by the amount designated with b when the auxiliary valve is closed. When the auxiliary valve 9 is opened by means of the angle lever 21, the auxiliary valve cross-section is only released to the extent that the piston 2, 3 leaves the bore 7 upwards. To the same extent, the steam tension in space 16 decreases and the steam flow through the increases
Fitting gap between the piston attachment n and the bore 12, so that the relief of the inlet valve 3 only becomes effective after a certain lift of the auxiliary valve.
One of these intermediate positions, in which sufficient steam flows to the jet pump for reheating, is now used for reheating. You can be determined by a detent.
For this purpose, the locking lever 2J is mounted on the angle lever M by means of a bolt 24, the locking tooth 26 of which latches into the tooth gap 27 when the mentioned open position of the auxiliary valve 9 is reached. This locking position is used for rewarming.
The tooth 26 is seated in the second tooth gap 27 'after the inlet valve is fully open
To close the valve 9 from the rest position after reheating, the lever 25 is rotated in the direction of the arrow, the ratchet tooth 26 moving out of the tooth gap 27 and the spring 28 rotating the angle lever 21 so that the rod 18 and the valve 9 the upper hook-shaped
The end withdraws to its seat 8, this movement being supported by the boiler steam pressure in space 16.
The valve 3 is closed in the same way by moving the locking tooth 26 out of the tooth gap 27 ′ by turning the lever 25.
