In internal combustion engines that work with liquid fuel supplied by a pump and in which the power is controlled by changing the amount of fuel supplied per stroke, it is known that the best mixing ratio of fuel to combustion air is obtained if the air supply is regulated in such a way that that the amount of air supplied per stroke or ignition is kept proportional to the amount of fuel supplied per stroke or ignition.
A known device for solving this problem is that a throttle member, for. B. a throttle valve, in the air intake line of the engine with a control device for the fuel pump is connected, so that each setting of the pump control device corresponds to a certain position of the air throttle member. Such a device, however, keeps the one supplied per stroke
EMI1.2
if the position of the pump control device remains unchanged, the amount of air sucked in per stroke will either decrease or increase as the speed increases or decreases.
In order to keep the amount of air supplied per stroke proportional to the amount of fuel supplied per stroke, even with a variable speed, it has been proposed in a device of the type specified above to mount a loaded air float behind the throttle opening in the air intake line set depending on the fuel pump control. In such a known device

Result in noise.
The invention aims to obviate this disadvantage.
The invention consists in a locking device which forcibly holds back the flap valve in its fully open position when the fuel pump and the throttle valve are set for the largest supply.
The drawing shows a side view of a fuel pump which is arranged on an engine cylinder and is combined with an air control device according to the invention shown in section.
The fuel pump 2 is attached to the side of the power unit cylinder 1. The pressure line of the pump leads to an injection nozzle 3 inserted in the cylinder wall. The pump piston 4 is driven during the pressure stroke by means of an intermediate piece 7 by a cam 5 on the shaft C and returned during the suction stroke by a spring, not shown. The pump piston has a collar 8 which works together with an adjustable stop 9. to limit the suction stroke and thus to determine the amount of fuel introduced into the cylinder by the next pressure stroke.
In the drawing, the stop 9 is a rotatably mounted on the cylinder

valve 14 and is by means of a sliding throttle valve 15 in the suction port. M of line 13 regulated. The sliding flap 15 is adjusted in accordance with the position of the stop 9 by means of a rod 17 articulated to the actuating lever 11, which rod is provided with a cam 18 for the purpose of interacting with the sliding flap. The side of the rod opposite the cam 18. 17 is supported against a guide piece 19 opposite the flap 15. A spring 20 fastened to the sliding flap 15 presses the sliding flap against the cam 18 and thus also the rod 17 against the guide piece 19.
The sliding flap 15 is provided with a roller 21 for the purpose of interacting with the cam 18.
A flap valve 22 is mounted in the line 13 above the opening 16. This flap

open position of the sliding flap 15 holds the flap 22 in its highest position. This position corresponds to the largest amount of fuel injected per stroke, i.e. H. the actuating lever 22 and thus the stop 9 are in the lowest position. As long as this setting is to be maintained, i.e. H. as long as the machine is working at full load, regulation by the flap 22 is not necessary, but on the contrary is disruptive, as indicated above.
Through the joint:! 8 the flap is thus kept completely open and prevented from swinging as long as the aforementioned state is maintained. When the actuating lever 11 is moved upward to reduce the pump stroke, the throttle valve 15 is pushed in by the upwardly moving cam 18, so that the throttle opening 16 decreases accordingly. At the same time, the joint 28 releases the flap 22. This can now swing down against the opening 16 and act to regulate the air supply in a manner known per se. so that the amount of air supplied per stroke remains proportional to the amount of fuel supplied per stroke even when the engine speed changes.
