Steam jet device for vacuum brake etc.
The combined blasting devices for automatic vacuum brakes are intended to maintain an approximately constant vacuum in the main line and in the braking devices of the vehicles. For this purpose, in addition to the main jet device, the systems have a small jet device, the steam supply of which is permanent and which is supposed to maintain the vacuum created by the main jet device, and one or more small auxiliary jet devices that work if the first jet device is insufficient, especially if there are leaks are present in the main line.
The arrangement of the small jet devices is of great importance; a faulty arrangement of the outlet nozzles can give rise to eddies and thus lead to energy losses, so that an increase in steam consumption when an auxiliary jet device is started up can only correspond to an insignificant increase in vacuum.
Combinations are known in which the main jet apparatus and an auxiliary jet apparatus are arranged symmetrically with respect to the outlet opening. This arrangement is flawed because there is a disproportion between the living forces of the steam jets. In other known constructions, the small jet apparatus with continuous operation and the small auxiliary jet apparatus are arranged on one and the same side of the main jet apparatus. With this arrangement, favorable results cannot be achieved, because the asymmetrical position of the small jet devices causes eddies in the outlet opening.
In the construction according to the present invention, on the one hand, the small jet device with continuous operation and the small auxiliary jet device are arranged symmetrically with respect to the main jet device and, on the other hand, form only a very small angle with it. As a result, significant advantages are achieved over the previously known designs. Because the symmetrically arranged small jet devices have jet forces of the same order of magnitude, the eddies are extremely reduced compared to cases where either the arrangement is asymmetrical or the force relationships are unequal. In addition, with the symmetrical position, the two small jet devices can be given the most favorable angle of inclination. So one achieves a reduction in turbulence and the most favorable use of the vacuum.
The fact that valves are arranged that control the steam inlet in the central steam nozzles of the small jet devices enables the vacuum to be regulated, in addition to and independently of the regulation achieved by handling the main jet device.
In the present invention, the air collector can be placed in and out of connection with the atmosphere in a very simple manner, without the need for complicated arrangements of cams and levers.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing:
Fig. 1 shows a section in the plane which passes through the axes of the valve cones of the main apparatus, the small apparatus and the auxiliary apparatus together. The main apparatus has an annular steam inlet channel a and a central small steam nozzle d. The small continuously operating apparatus has an annular steam inlet channel b, the small auxiliary jet apparatus also has an annular inlet channel e. In addition, both have a central steam nozzle t, which is not shown in FIG. 1, but is shown in FIG. 2. The main jet apparatus a, b is used to follow the main line of the vehicle
