Filling pencil.
Filling pencils are known which contain a supply of pencil leads in a magazine and allow the leads to be inserted from the magazine into the pencil tip automatically by rotating the part that actuates the feed pin.
For this purpose, the filling pencil z. B. (according to American patent specification No. 465659) two feed pins that are always moved in opposite directions. While one pen gradually pushes the lead in use out of the pencil, the other goes back, so that a lead on the magazine gets under him.
By reversing the direction of movement of the sleeve displacing the feed pins, this lead is then moved forward by the feed pin and the other feed pin is withdrawn so that another lead can get out of the magazine under this pin.
EMI1.1
The sleeve of the visual screw piece has right-hand and left-hand threading, so that one screw piece and its feed pins are always moved in the opposite direction to the other visual screw piece and its feed pins when the sleeve is rotated.
The filling pencil according to the invention uses only one feed pin and enables its drive part to always be rotated in the same direction, so that accidentally incorrect actuation, which is associated with damage to the pencil, appears to be excluded.
The drawing illustrates the filler pencil according to the invention in an exemplary embodiment in FIG. 1 in a view and in FIG. 2 in longitudinal section. Fig. 3 shows the part moving the feed pin of the pencil lead in elevation and Figs. 4 and 5 are sections along line A-B and C-D of Fig. 2 on a larger scale, Fig. 6 shows another embodiment of a detail.
The outer sleeve 1 of the pencil is made of any material, for example metal, and is provided with a thread at one end 2 on the inside (FIG. 2) .. \ n A tube 3 is attached to this end, which has a longitudinal slot 4 and about half as long as the outer sleeve 1 is. The front end of the outer sleeve 1 is provided with a longitudinal rib 5 (FIG. 5) which lies in the extension of a longitudinal edge of the slot 4 of the tube 3.
Concentrically in the outer sleeve 1 is a hollow cylinder 6 (Fig. 2 and 3), the rear part of which is provided on its outside with right-hand and left-hand helical grooves that cross and merge at the ends, so that an endless guide groove is formed is. The outer end of the closed cylindrical tube 6 carries a screw bolt 8 on which a screw-in ring 9 sits loosely (Fig. 2), which j! Into the screw-threaded end 2 of the outer sleeve j! is screwed in. A button 10 sits on the screw bolt 8, which advantageously has the shape of a truncated cone.
The front end of the tube 6 has a transverse slot 11 into which a tool is inserted during assembly of the pencil in order to hold the tube 6 in place when the button 10 is screwed on.

Sleeve 1 sits a, a pen-like tip 14 with a bore. M is provided for the pencil lead. (Fig. 2). The bore is arranged eccentrically with respect to the sleeve 1 and in connection with a magazine 16 (Fig. 5) of the pencil leads 17 provided between the sleeve 1 and the tube 6. The rib 5 of the sleeve 1 is a transverse wall of the magazine 16. The bore 15 of the pencil tip 14 forms the extension of the feed pin 12 and the rib 5 lies to the side of the bore 15 and the feed pin 12.
To use the pencil, the pencil tip 14 is pulled out of the end of the sleeve 1 and
EMI2.1
end is used. The feed pin 12 is in its rearward position. The knob 10 is then rotated in the direction of clockwise movement and the tube 6 is entrained. The feed pin 12 lying in the slot 4 of the tube 3 is thereby moved forward and pushes a pencil lead into the bore 15 of the pencil tip 14.
When the feed pin 12 reaches the inner end of the helical groove 7, its guide nose 13 gets into the groove running in the opposite direction of rotation and the feed pin is moved back by the miniature magazine. With the continued rotary movement of the tube 6, the pencil leads 17 are moved with it until the next lead is on the transverse wall 5 and in front of the bore 15. As the tube 6 continues to rotate, which always takes place in the same direction, the feed pin 12 presses the pencil lead located on the transverse wall 5 into the bore 15 of the pencil tip 14.
The tube 6 can also be designed as is illustrated in FIG. 6, if desired.
The rear part carries the left-hand and right-hand vane groove 7, the front part 18 is provided with longitudinal grooves 20 so that when the tube 6 rotates, the pencil leads 17 in the magazine 16 are safely moved along with it. The endless guide groove 7 for moving the feed pin 12 could also be provided on the inside of the hollow cylinder 6 without changing anything in the nature of the design of the filling pencil.
