Abstract

Reivindicación 1: Un proceso para producir etanol, que comprende: hidrogenar ácido acético en un reactor, a efectos de formar un producto etanol bruto que comprende etanol, ácido acético, agua y acetato de etilo: separar una porción del producto etanol bruto de manera de obtener una primera corriente que comprende etanol, acetato de etilo, y agua, y una segunda corriente que comprende ácido acético y agua; remover agua de la segunda corriente de manera de obtener una corriente de retorno que comprende ácido acético y menos del 15% en peso de agua; y recuperar etanol de la primera corriente.
