Abstract

Un procedimiento para preparar 1,3-propanodiol que comprende las etapas de : (a) preparar una mezcla acuosa de 3-hidroxipropanal y derivados de reacción, (b) pasar dicha mezcla acuosa de 3-hidroxipropanal a una zona de hidrogenación, en donde la zona de hidrogenación comprende al menos dos etapas en las cuales en la primer etapa la hidrogenación se lleva a cabo en condiciones de hidrogenación a una temperatura en la gama de 50 a 130sC en presencia de un catalizador de hidrogenación de lecho fijo o lechada, y en donde se agrega o está presente un co-catalizador ácido en al menos una de las últimas etapas, y la hidrogenación en dichas últimas etapas se lleva a cabo en condiciones de hidrogenación a una temperatura más alta que la de la primera etapa de hidrogenación y en la gama de 70 a 155sC, lo que forma una solución acuosa de 1,3- propanodiol; y (c) recuperar tal 1,3-propanodiol. Reivindicación 1: Un procedimiento para preparar 1,3-propanodiol mediante la hidrogenación de 3- hidroxipropanal que comprende las etapas de: (a) preparar una mezcla acuosa de 3-hidroxipropanal; (b) pasar la mezcla acuosa de 3-hidroxipropanal a una zona de hidrogenación, en donde la zona de hidrogenación comprende al menos dos etapas en las cuales en la primer etapa la hidrogenación se lleva a cabo en condiciones de hidrogenación a una temperatura en la gama de 50 a 130sC en presencia de un catalizador de hidrogenación de lecho fijo o lechada, y en donde se agrega o está presente un co- catalizador ácido, que se selecciona del grupo consistente en zeolitas ácidas, resinas de intercambio catiónico en forma ácida, óxidos de metal ácidos o anfóteros, heteropoliácidos, y ácidos solubles, en al menos una de las últimas etapas, y la hidrogenación en dichas últimas etapas se lleva a cabo en condiciones de hidrogenación a una temperatura más alta que la de la primera etapa de hidrogenación y en la gama de 70 a 155sC, lo que forma una solución acuosa de 1,3-propanodiol; y (c) recuperar tal 1,3-propanodiol.
