Abstract

Secuencia de polinucleotidos idéntica en su secuencia a la secuencia identificada como SEQ ID Ns1, secuencia que sean 50-99% idénticas a la misma, secuencias complementarias, secuencias que hibridizan bajo condiciones de hibridizacion estricta con las mencionadas secuencias y construcciones que comprenden dicha secuencia. Dichas secuencias de polinucleotidos que se pueden obtener tanto de fuentes naturales, tales como las cianobacterias, como artificiales, codifican polipéptidos en particular la beta-cetoacil- ACP sintetasa (KAS), que cumple un rol indispensable en la síntesis de ácidos grasos. Método para modificar y reducir el contenido de ácidos grasos saturados en una célula huésped de una planta transgénica de soja, maíz, o Brassica. Las células huésped, semillas y progenies de dichas plantas así como también los aceites con ácidos grasos saturados reducidos que de ellas se obtienen también se describen.
