Abstract
Un método y aparato para seguir la posicion de una unidad movil (300) en un sistema movil de radio comunicacion mediante la utilizacion de informaciondesde satélites en orbita terrestre e informacion recibida desde la infraestructura del sistema,don de la infraestructura consiste de equipo (400) asociado conla transmision y recepcion de tráfico de voz o de datos a y desde el teléfono movil (300). Una posicion inicial de la unidad movil (300) es calculada mediantela utilizacion de medicionesdesd e satélites en orbita terrestre. A continuacion, una o más mediciones de rango son efectuadas mediante la utilizacion desenales transmitidas entre la unidad movil (300) y la infraestructura (400). Una diferencia de posicion entre la posicioninicial y una posicion actual de laestacion movil (300) es estimada mediante la utilizacion de una o más mediciones de rango, donde solamente las mediciones de rango efectuadas desde las senalestransmitidas entre la unidad movil (300) y lainfraestructura (4 00) son utilizadas para llevar a cabo la estimacion. Un valor de exactitud es luego determinadopara la medicion de posicion estimada, y el valor de exactitud es comparado contra un umbral para determinar si la medicion de posicionestimada tiene unae xactitud aceptable. Si la medicion de posicion estimada tiene una exactitud aceptable, entonces la posicion inicial de la unidad movil (300) es actualizadamediante la utilizacion de mediciones de posicion estimada y el proceso esrepetido utilizando solamente las mediciones de rango efectuadas desde senalestransmitidas entre la unidad movil (300) y la infraestructura, de lo contrario, una nueva posicion inicial es determinada desde los satélites en orbitaterrestre y elproceso se repite.
