Abstract

Un inserto cortante intercambiable adaptado para montar en un cuerpo de herramienta portante para uso, en particular, en operaciones de fresado facialy periférico combinadas. El inserto cortante es un cuerpo sustancialmente prismoide que tiene una base plana y una superficie superior con porciones dedesbaste que empalman con flancos laterales del inserto, por lo menos en los bordes cortantes que definen entre los mismos una esquina del inserto. Laesquina del inserto tiene un plano bisector perpendicular a la base del inserto. Cada borde cortante comprende una porción central y una primeraporción lateral y una segunda porción lateral que están inclinadas respecto a la base del inserto, siendo la esquina contigua a unaprimera porción lateral yuna segunda porción lateral asociadas de los bordes cortantes adyacentes. Las porciones centrales de los bordes cortantes definen de las mismas un primerplano paralelo a la base y la primera porción lateral y la segunda porción lateral asociadas tienen iguales longitudes y definen entre las mismas unsegundo plano inclinado respecto al plano de la base y perpendicular al plano bisector de modo que la esquina del inserto y los bordes cortantes tengan unadisposición geométrica de una simetría especular respecto al plano bisector. Cada borde cortante puede funcionar, cuando el inserto está montado en laherramienta, como un borde cortante periférico que tiene una longitud cortante definida por la primera porción lateral y la porción central del mismo, y quetiene como borde cortante frontal una longitud de corte definida por la segunda porción lateral del mismo.
