Abstract

A change-of-direction sensor for motor vehicles, particularly for an accident data recorder with coils arranged at right angles to one another and in each case having a core of amorphous ferromagnetic metal is proposed which is optimally designed for use in such a device, that is to say in accordance with large-scale production conditions and with the least possible power consumption. In a preferred embodiment it is proposed to arrange the coils (15, 16) on a circuit board (17) carrying the electronic components of the accident data recorder, to provide, for setting the operating point of the transmitters of the change-of-direction sensor, a permanent magnet (30) which is adjustably arranged diagonally to the coils (15/16) on the circuit board (17), and to use an emitter-coupled oscillator (1) for each transmitter. <IMAGE>
