Description
A WASHING MACHINE CONNECTED TO A LAUNDRY DRYER AND THE CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
The present invention relates to a household appliance comprising a washing machine connected to a laundry dryer wherein the condensate tank and the detergent dispenser are cleaned, and relates to the control method thereof.
In laundry dryers, water condensing during the drying process is collected in a condensate tank or directly discharged. Microbial accumulation occurs in the condensate tank depending on the humidity and temperature values of the environment, and a biofilm forms on the walls of the condensate tank. It is determined that bacteria at the level of log 4 - 5 are formed in the water stored in the condensate tank. In case this water is taken into the washing machine, bacteria are carried both into the washing machine and onto the laundry loaded into the washing machine. Microbial contamination is eliminated during the washing process performed with high temperature programs or high alkalinity powder detergents in the washing machine. However, if the user uses liquid detergent and low temperature programs, microorganisms cannot be eliminated and a hygiene risk arises both in the washing machine and in the washing process since dirty water is taken into the washing machine. Similarly, microbial accumulation occurs in the detergent dispenser of the washing machine depending on the humidity and temperature values of the environment, and a biofilm forms on the walls of the detergent dispenser. Microorganisms and biofilm accumulated in the condensate tank and the detergent dispenser cause both a bad odor and a bad appearance.
In the state of the art, the user is recommended to run a tub cleaning program once a month in order to clean residues such as lime in washing machines. In said tub cleaning program, the washing process is performed with various chemicals at high temperature in order to dissolve the residues in the washing machine, remove the same from the surface, and also carry out disinfection with high temperature application. In the state of the art, the washing machine is operated empty with the tub cleaning program and the washing water is heated to high temperature values
and the inside of the washing machine is washed. By means of the tub cleaning program, hot water reaches the drum, the bellows, the discharge line, the drum jet line, if any, certain regions of the tub, and the heater; however, the detergent dispenser cannot be cleaned with the tub washing program since the hot water is not directed to the detergent dispenser. Hygienic washing or washing machine cleaning programs with the effect of temperature are widely used.
