Abstract
A portable radio flash drive, connectable to a computer or smartphone, for storing, transferring and exchanging data, comprising a radio interface for communicating and automatically synchronizing stored data with another such flash drive. The claimed drive is intended to obviate physical transfer of the drive when transferring files from one computer to another, to provide more reliable data storage, and to reduce wear on an interface connector.
Description
RADIO FLASH DRIVE (RADIO FLASH DRIVE)
The technical solution relates to portable devices for storing, transferring and exchanging data, in particular to flash drives (flash drives).
Portable storage devices are known for storing, transferring and exchanging data files, using flash memory as a storage medium, and connecting to a computer, smartphone or other reading device via an electrical interface, for example, USB (USB flash drives, flash drives). Most USB flash drives weigh less than 25 grams.
The disadvantages of flash drives are:
— limited number of write-erase cycles, due to the specific technology of the flash memory chips used and, as a result, low reliability of data storage.
— to transfer data from one computer to another, you need to physically reconnect and transfer the flash drive between computers.
To increase the reliability of data storage and eliminate the physical transfer of a flash drive between computers, it is proposed to equip the flash drive with a radio interface for communication and automatic synchronization of files recorded and stored on them with a similar flash drive (Fig. 1, Fig. 2). At the same time, a similar flash drive means a flash drive with a radio interface for communication and automatic synchronization of stored data. Thus, if there is power and radio communication between them, after the synchronization process, one copy of each file will be on one flash drive, and another copy of each file will be on another flash drive, i.e. files will be duplicated. The file synchronization process can be initiated automatically, for example, after recording or erasing files on one of the drives, when a radio connection is established or initiated by a command from the user (for example, by pressing a button). The file system folder structure can also be synchronized. Thus, the file structure on one drive will be similar to the file structure of the other drive (the drives will be images of each other).
The technical result of this solution is:
1. исключение физического переноса накопителя при переносе файлов с одного компьютера на другой; 1. eliminating the physical transfer of the drive when transferring files from one computer to another;
2. повышение надежности хранения данных; 2. increasing the reliability of data storage;
3. Reducing wear on the interface connector.
(SYNC STATUS). Since files can be large and the synchronization process between drives can take considerable time, it is advisable to equip the drive with an indicator(s) of the synchronization process status (SYNC STATUS) to inform the user.
In order for synchronization to occur only between certain drives, it is necessary to combine the drives into a synchronization group through the “pairing” procedure. File synchronization can occur with more than two drives; in this case, all of them must be combined into one synchronization group.
The radio interface can be organized using wireless data exchange systems Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or mobile communications.
To limit access to data stored on the drive, it may contain a fingerprint sensor.
For autonomous operation, the drive may contain a battery (Fig.3). The battery can be charged either through the interface connector and/or wirelessly (inductive or electromagnetic). To increase the reliability of data synchronization, the drive may contain a clock that can be synchronized by radio signals from an accurate time transmission system.
