After all, there is a problem that the jelly roll electrode assembly is not suitable for responding to various form factors.
- the size of the jelly roll electrode assembly increases, the winding quality deteriorates, and the jelly roll is expanded or distorted during use of the secondary battery, which adversely affects the safety of the secondary battery.
- the prismatic battery housing has a space for electrical connection of the jelly roll electrode assembly and a little extra space due to the required amount of electrolyte, which causes the electrode assembly in the prismatic battery housing to shake or slide due to external impact. (slip phenomenon) occurs.
- slip phenomenon occurs in the electrode assembly, various problems may occur, such as a short circuit due to electrical contact or a tear of the tab due to concentration of stress on the electrode tab.

That is, the positive electrode dummy tab 132 exactly faces the positive electrode tab 130 , and the negative electrode dummy tab 142 also exactly faces the negative electrode tab 140 .
- each pair of the positive electrode tab 130, the positive electrode dummy tab 132, and the negative electrode tab 140 and the negative electrode dummy tab 142 are on a straight line vertically crossing each other. They may be arranged offset from each other with respect to each other. That is, the first electrode assembly 110 shown in FIG. 8 is formed by dislocating the opposing structures of the positive electrode dummy tab 132 and the negative electrode dummy tab 142 with respect to the positive electrode tab 130 and the negative electrode tab 140, respectively. By breaking the vertical symmetry structure of the four-point support, the natural frequency is changed, and accordingly, it becomes possible to respond to various aspects of vibration.
- FIG. 9 is a variation of FIG. 8 , wherein each pair of the positive electrode tab 130 and the negative electrode dummy tab 142 and the negative electrode tab 140 and the positive electrode dummy tab 132 are disposed on one surface of the first electrode assembly 110 and the other side thereof. They may be mutually aligned so as to lie on a straight line crossing opposite faces. That is, the negative electrode dummy tab 142 faces the positive electrode tab 130, and the positive electrode dummy tab 132 faces the negative electrode tab 140, and the dummy tabs facing each of the electrode tabs 130 and 140 ( 132, 142) show that the type (polarity) is not limited to the embodiment of FIG. 7 .
- the prismatic battery 100 according to the present invention can be used in various devices, such as electric vehicles (EVs).
- EVs electric vehicles
- electrode structure 110 first electrode assembly
- the present invention is useful for improving the safety of prismatic secondary batteries.
