Description
Cover dampening lateral movements in commercial vehicle suspension systems
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention, in general relates to the suspension systems of the commercial vehicles.
The invention particularly relates to a cover that is used on the upper part of the bellows in suspension systems and provides the damping of lateral loads.
STATE OF THE ART
Today, suspension systems are used to minimize the effects that the vehicles are exposed to on road conditions. The suspension systems that are used in the commercial vehicles generally consist of bellows that provide the suspension function, a damper that connects the suspension system to the vehicle, and a piston that provides the connection between the bellows and the damper. There is a damping bumper that is connected to the damper shaft and the bellows together, providing the damping function, and a cover closed on the bellows inside the bellows.
In the suspension systems of the state of the art, the cover connected to the bellows is placed on the shock absorber shaft and it has the ability to move only in the rubber section at the central area. This configuration does not provide sufficient damping against lateral loads on the damper shaft and causes the deformation of the inner damper bumper.
In the state of the art, a suspension system is encountered in the document numbered US20110266727A1 wherein the existing problems are seen. The damper shaft in this embodiment passes through the hub made of rubber material in the middle section of the cover and can only move to the extent that this hub allows. In
this configuration, the lateral loads cannot be absorbed sufficiently and deformations occur in the bumper connected to the damper shaft.
As a result; developments are made in the covers used in the suspension systems of the commercial vehicles, therefore new configurations are required in order to eliminate abovementioned disadvantages and bring solution to current systems.
AIM OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is related to a cover used in the suspension system which fulfills the abovementioned requirements, eliminates all disadvantages and brings some additional advantages.
The main aim of the invention is to provide a cover structure that is used in suspension systems in commercial vehicles and absorbs lateral loads that comes to the damper shaft. The cover consists of two parts in order to achieve this and a damping element is used between these two parts.
An aim of the invention is to eliminate the breakage problems that may occur in the shaft by damping the lateral loads on the damper shaft and to increase the economic life of the bumper.
In order to realize all advantages mentioned above and will be understood from the following detailed description, in the present invention a cover configuration is obtained that is used in the suspension systems of the commercial vehicles, is engaged on the bellows in the suspension system and through which the damper shaft passes, comprising the following;
• an external body that forms the outer part of the cover and provides its assembly to the bellows,
• an internal body that forms the internal section of the cover and on which there is a shaft hole where the damper shaft is positioned and a bumper damping area,
• rubber damping element that is connected between the external body and the internal body and provides the internal body to make a flexion movement within the external body against the lateral loads coming to the damper shaft.
The structural and characteristic features of the present invention will be understood clearly by the following drawings and the detailed description made with reference to these drawings. Therefore the evaluation shall be made by taking these figures and the detailed description into consideration.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
In order to understand the advantages of the present invention with its structure and additional elements, it shall be evaluated with the following defined figures.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In this detailed description, the preferred embodiments of the inventive cover (3) is described only for clarifying the subject matter in a manner such that no limiting effect is created.
The present invention is a cover (3) that is used in the suspension systems of the commercial vehicles, is engaged on the bellows (1) in the suspension system and through which the damper shaft (2) passes, comprising the following;
• an external body (3.1) that forms the outer part of the cover (3) and provides its assembly to the bellows (3),
• an internal body (3.2) that forms the internal section of the cover (3) and on which there is a shaft hole (3.4) where the damper shaft (2) is positioned and a bumper damping area,
• rubber damping element (3.3) that is connected between the external body (3.1) and the internal body (3.2) and provides the internal body (3.2) to make a flexion movement within the external body (3.1) against the lateral loads coming to the damper shaft (2).
In Figure 1 and Figure 2, the views of the inventive cover (3) connected on the suspension system are seen. The cover (3) is connected on the bellows (1 ) and the damper shaft (2) is located in the middle of the cover (3). The connection of the cover (3) to the bellows (1) is provided by means of the external body (3.1). The damper shaft (2) is connected to the internal body (3.2), which is in the inner section of the external body (3.1) and is not fixed to the external body (3.1). There is a shaft hole (3.4) on the internal body (3.2) so as to position the damper shaft (2) on the internal body (3.2). A damping element (3.3) is connected between the external body (3.1 ) and the internal body (3.2) so as to provide the flexion movement of the internal body (3.2) in the lateral loads coming to the damper shaft (2) Therefore, the flexion movement of the internal body (3.2) is provided as directed by the loads on the damper shaft (2) and independent of the external body (3.1 ). Said damping element (3.3) is preferably made of rubber material.
The flexion movement of the cover (3) on which the damper shaft (2) is positioned against the lateral loads coming to the damper shaft (2) is provided with the inventive structure, it is ensured that the damper shaft (2) is prevented from breaking and the economic life of the bumper is increased by means of the internal body (3.2) shaft hole (3.4).
