Description

ONLINE DIGITAL TEXTBOOKS OR NOTES ALONG WITH TEACHING AND CONCEPT VIDEOS TO EXPLAIN THE CONTENT IN THE SESSION
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to the field of electronic digital textbook/digital document/lecture notes, in general, more particularly to a system and method of viewing multiple teaching and concept videos relevant to a session or to a part of a teaching session for users of a digital textbook or lecture notes in a digital education platform.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In today’s education world, teachers are finding it difficult to make the students leam and understand thoroughly all the subjects from the textbook or study notes. A complex mathematical equation or chemical formula requires lots of supporting materials in the form of videos, images, and relevant material for the students to understand the subject thoroughly. With the improper learning material, it is very difficult for the students to grasp the subject matter.
Modem Information Technology has dramatically improved the way the students are taught in the last decade. Recent developments in the education system through the internet are advancing the digital revolution by making it possible to store and view the printed textbook in a digital format on a personal computer, tablet computers, mobile phones, or any other communication devices. As a result, the digitized educational books are developed to be used in online mode with internet facility or offline mode. The digital/electronic textbooks and lecture notes are increasingly getting prominence across the globe.
In the present scenario, the digital textbooks and lecture notes are available in PDF format on the internet. The concept videos on various topics are available in Khan Academy and similar websites or on YouTube and not in the digital textbook. Lecture notes are available in e- learning software like Moodle, Kotobee, Google Classroom, Microsoft One Note Class Notebook, Canvas Blackboard, etc. Teaching and Concept videos are also made by a number of educational teaching video providers like Byju, Learn Next, Pebbles, etc. The students do not have the teaching and concept videos in PDF textbooks or digital textbooks. So, the students have to do research on their own or depend on other separate applications to get the subject related teaching or concept videos to understand or leam about the subject. The current process is very time-consuming. Moreover, the students don’t have enough expertise in picking the right videos to learn.
On the other hand, teachers are always loaded with lots of work, and they do not have much time to teach thoroughly in the class. The quality of teaching is not up to the mark by most of the teachers and sometimes the teachers are unable to find time to teach properly and explain the concept to the students. To overcome this problem of teaching properly to the student a number of teaching videos are now available.
In the existing prior art techniques, education textbooks are in the PDF format which has no videos related to the text content of the particular session in the subject. None of the teaching and concept videos are embedded in between the session or end of the session in the digital textbook.
In the existing prior art techniques, generally, users learn through online videos via other video servicing platforms like YouTube or their own private channels. Hence the users are in the situation to view the videos separately and learn the subject text separately. And also, the length of the video content is more. Most of the students do not have the patience for watching the teaching videos for 30 to 40 minutes in one stretch. This leads to students not paying proper attention to the teaching or concept videos.
Reference has been made to US20010031456A1, which discloses the online education system with different types of learning methods, in that visual learning style has limited features and is mostly dependent on the other site videos for teaching. Further reference has been made to US20110020781 Al which teaches online interactive sessions for learning which has different features with the limitations in learning more through videos. The above discussed are related to the online education and learning system with less user-friendly options.
Learning through the videos in the digital textbook or lecture notes increases the student’s interest in learning the subjects and helps for better learning. Video not only helps the students to learn, but it also supports the faculties to know more about the new content. Learning through videos give more flexibility. Educational teaching video is as good as an instructor, tutor, faculties (teachers, lecturers, and professors) in communicating the principles, procedures, facts, explaining the contents in the subjects, clarifying the doubts or demonstrating procedures to contribute in proficiency learning where a student, faculty, parents can view complex, clinical procedures, mathematical or mechanical procedures as many times as they need till their query, doubts are solved. It enables the students to learn without attending a physical class and learn by a virtual class from the online digital textbook or lecture notes.
There is a need exist to develop the digital textbook embedded with the concept and teaching videos, with the option to add the videos wherever in between the session or end of the session in the digital textbook. It gives the flexibility to the content makers to add a number of animated and concept videos relevant to the session in the advanced digital textbook.
There is a need exist to solve the difficulty of the students to avail the choice of getting lots of information in the form of short-term videos in a single click without going away from the digital/electronic textbooks and lecture notes. It helps the student to read the digital textbook or lecture notes and view immediately the relevant concept or teaching videos from the digital textbook or lecture notes. It enables the students to get more detailed knowledge regarding the particular part of the session by viewing the related teaching and concept videos and continue to the next part of the text content in the digital textbook.
The present invention proposes a user-friendly solution to use the interactive digital textbook embedded with the concept and teaching videos in suitable places for each and every session. The main objective is to have a short-term concept and teaching videos for every session of the digital textbook or lecture notes instead of viewing for a 30 to 40 minutes long video. So, the teaching videos of about 30 to 40 minutes are split into several smaller videos varying between 2 to 15 minutes and embedded into the text content at the relevant part of the session for the students to avoid getting bored or distracted watching a long teaching video. Here the digital textbook is divided into three or more parts and the multiple concepts or teaching videos are embedded at various parts of the digital textbook or lecture notes. It helps the student to understand the session easily and get more detailed knowledge regarding the particular topic in the specific session of the textbook with the help of concept and teaching video by dividing the textbook into three or more parts as per the session of a subject.
