Abstract

An electronic apparatus performs a method of decoding video data. The method comprises: receiving, from bitstream, a first syntax element associated with a current set of palette mode coding units at a first coding level, wherein the first syntax element indicates a maximum palette table size; in accordance with a determination that the first syntax element has a non-zero value: receiving, from the bitstream, a second syntax element associated with the current set of palette mode coding units, wherein the second syntax element indicates a delta maximum palette predictor size; setting a maximum palette predictor size by adding the delta maximum palette predictor size to the maximum palette table size; decoding, from the bitstream, the current set of palette mode coding units in accordance with the maximum palette table size and the maximum palette predictor size.
