Abstract

An image-based system for monitoring the stock of a shelved product, according to one embodiment of the present invention, comprises: an image acquisition module which acquires an input image from a capturing device; a product region extraction module which segments the input image into grid tile units, and then extracts a product region, which is a region where a product is present, through frequency information and color information of each tile; a product recognition module which recognizes the product that is present in the product region; and a stock identification module which identifies the stock level of the product through the area of the product region.
