Detailed description of the figures
Fig. 1 presents a basic modular handbag (basebag) 100 without any attachment. A user uses the handbag 100 in order to carry, maintain, and protect items in different spaces, which the handbag 100 provides inside it.
The handbag 100 has a bag body 102, which is made from leather, textile, compo site textile, or other suitable material.
The bag body 102 has a bottom part 104, side parts 106, and end parts 108. Inner surfaces 110 of bottom, side, and end parts 104, 106, 108 define storage space to which the user can place the items to be stored and carried by means of the hand bag 100.
The end parts 108 are attached to inner surfaces 110 of bottom and side parts 104, 106 so that end portions 112, 114 of bottom part 104 and each side part 106 are outside the storage space and form an end flange 116, 118 to each end 120, 122 of handbag 100. The attachment of parts 104, 106, 108 is made by sewing, glueing, or riveting. The bottom and side parts 104, 106 has an U-shaped cross-section (U-profile) when seeing from a direction of end 120, 122 of handbag 100. The parts 104, 106 may be made from a single material part by shaping it to the U-shape, from two material parts, of which one comprises one side part 106 and the bottom part 104, and an other comprises another side part 106, by attaching these material parts to each other and shaping the entity to the U-shape, or from the separate bottom part 104 and two separate side parts 104 by attaching these material parts to each other and shaping the entity to the U-shape similarly.
The handbag 100 has also at least one strap 124, e.g. one, two as presented in the figures, three, or more straps, which helps the user to carry the handbag 100, e.g. on a user’s shoulder. Each strap 124 is attached to the bag body 102, e.g. to an upper portion 126 of side part 106 or to an upper portion 129 of end part 108, fixedly or detachably. The attachement is made to an inner surface 110, as presented in the figures, or an outer surface 127 of side part 106.
Alternatively, it is possible to use the handbag 100 as a backbag by adjusting two straps 124 to the handbag 100 so that one end of each strap 124 is attached fixedly or detachably to the bag body 102, e.g. to the inner surface 110 of upper portion 126 of side part 106, and another end of each strap 124 is also attached fixedly or detachably to the bag body 102, e.g. to an outer surface of bottom part 104.
The handbag 100 may have an inner lining 128 that is fastened (attached) detach ably into the storage space. The attachment is made so that an outer surface of inner lining 128 faces the inner surfaces 110 of bottom, side, and end parts 104, 106, 108. An interior of inner lining 128 defines a lining storage space to which the user can place items to be stored and carried by means of the handbag 100.
The inner lining 128 has a zip fastener 130 for closing the lining storage space and it is made from leather, textile, composite textile, fur, or other suitable material. This material may be same or different than the material of bag body 102.
The inner lining 128 has upper parts 132 of poppers (snap fasteners) 134. The at tachment of inner lining 128 is made detachably to the inner surfaces 110 of side parts 106. The inner surfaces 110 of side parts 106 comprise lower parts 133 of poppers 134, whereupon the attachment is made so that each upper part 132 has a dedicated lower part 133 and each upper part 132 is attached to its dedicated lower part 133 by pressing. Alternatively, the attachment of linner lining 128 may be carry out by means of at taching elements 136 and attaching holes 256 so that the inner lining 128 has the attaching holes 256 and the inner surfaces 110 comprise the attaching elements 136. The attachment is made so that each attaching hole 256 has a dedicated at taching element 136 and each attaching hole 256 is arranged around its dedicated attaching element. Further details of attaching elements and holes 136, 256 are explained below.
The handbag 100 has also the attaching elements 136 for at least one modular bag part 248, 250, 352, 454 at least on the outer surface 127 of each side part 106. The attaching elements 136 enable to fasten the at least one modular bag part 248, 250, 352, 454 detachably to an outer surface of handbag 100.
The attaching elements 136 comprises at least one of followings: rivets and turn locks. The figures present an option where is both the rivets and the turn locks.
A first part of attaching elements 136 are installed in a horizontal line on the inner surface 110 of end portions 112, 114 of bottom part 104 as presented in the figures. These end portions 112, 114 are outside the storage space and forms, at the same time, a bottom 138 of end flanges 116, 118 in the ends 120, 122 of handbag 100. A second part of attaching elements 136 are installed in a horizontal line on the outer surface 110 of bottom portion 140 of side parts 106 as presented in the figures. Additionally, attaching elements 136, which belongs to the second part of attaching elements 136, are installe in a vertical line on the outer surface 110 of end portions 142, 144 of side parts 106.
Alternatively, the attachment of at least one modular bag part 248, 250, 352, 454 may be made by means of poppers 134, velcro strap, zip fasteners, or magnets instead of the attaching elements and holes 136, 256 presented in the figures.
When the end portions 142, 144 form sides 146 of end flanges 116, 118, and the end portions 112, 114 in the bottom part 104 form the bottom 138 of end flanges 116, 118 as above has been explained, each end flange 116, 118 consists of the bottom 138 and the sides 146.
The user may equip the handbag 100 with at least one fuctional modular bag part 248, 250, 352, 454 in order to add storage spaces to it, to diversify its use, and, naturally, to change its visual appearance. The modular bag part 248, 250, 352, 454 may be at least one end module 248, at least one bag jewelry 250, at least one side module 352, or at least one side bag 454.
