Abstract

The object of invention is a non-lethal bullet of a conventional cartridge, wherein the non-lethal bullet is inserted in a shell of a conventional bullet, particularly for small arms, such as a rifle or a pistol. The non-lethal bullet of a conventional cartridge consists of a front portion (1), a rear portion (2) and a filler (3), the rear portion (2) being circumferentially provided with vertical ribs (2b) having an extremely thin connecting layer which breaks in flight or as soon as the bullet leaves the barrel, wherein wings are formed from the vertical ribs (2a), which open and slow down the flight of the rear portion (2) of the non-lethal bullet, while the front portion (1) of the non-lethal bullet flies forward. The non-lethal bullet of a conventional cartridge is intended for temporary incapacitation of a target, or for causing minor trauma, as such a bullet can be stopped even by a thicker clothing, however, it can also be used with real weapons, without a need of any modifications performed on the conventional weapons.

Description

NON-LETHAL BULLET OF A CONVENTIONAL CARTRIDGE
The object of invention is a non-lethal bullet of a conventional cartridge, the non-lethal bullet being an inserted shell of a conventional cartridge primarily for handguns such as rifle or pistol, and a front portion being made of softer polyurethane plastic (TPU) or soft rubber or similar material, and a rear portion, which is made of harder polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) plastic, is provided with vertical ribs, which, when in flight, extend into wings that slow down the flight of the rear portion of the bullet, while the front portion flies forward unhindered. The non-lethal bullet of a conventional cartridge is intended for temporary incapacitation of a target, or for causing minor trauma, as such a bullet can be stopped even by a thicker clothing, however, it can also be used with real weapons, without a need of any modifications performed on the conventional weapons. The invention belongs to class F 42B 8/00 of the International Patent Classification.
The technical problem that the present invention successfully solves is a constructional solution to making a projectile, e.g. a small arms bullet intended to temporarily incapacitate a target, with improved ballistic properties and more accurate hits, and can be used with real weapons without additional modifications. In known variants, handgun bullets that are intended for temporary incapacitation of a target and do not have lethal properties, are made of softer material, plastic or rubber. Such a projectile - a bullet is mounted in a conventional or plastic shell. When fired from a conventional handgun, the bullet in the barrel does not begin to rotate due to its softness, and as a result, its flight is inaccurate. This makes hitting a target with such a bullet very difficult and inaccurate.
The non-lethal bullet of a conventional cartridge consists of a front portion, a rear portion and a filler, the rear portion being circumferentially provided with vertical ribs formed of an extremely thin connecting layer which breaks in flight (as soon as the bullet leaves the barrel) and wings are formed from the vertical ribs, which open and slow down the flight of the rear portion of the non-lethal bullet, while the front portion of the non- lethal bullet, which is soft and light, flies forward and is not lethal.
The invention will be explained in more detail on the basis of an embodiment and the belonging drawings, in which:
Figure 1 shows a non-lethal bullet of the invention in side view and cross-sections views A-A and B-B;
Figure 2 shows a non-lethal bullet of the invention in axonometric view;
Figure 3 shows a rear portion of a non-lethal bullet of the invention after launching; Figure 4 shows a cartridge with a non-lethal bullet of the invention;
Figure 5 shows a cross-section of a cartridge with a non-lethal bullet of the invention;
Figure 6 shows an assembly of a cartridge with a non-lethal bullet of the invention.
A cartridge with a non-lethal bullet shown in Figures 4 to 6 consists of a cartridge shell A with a primer B and with a non-lethal bullet inserted in the cartridge shell A, shown in detail in Figures 1 to 3.
The non-lethal bullet consists of a front portion 1 , a rear portion 2 and a filler 3. The front portion 1 of the non-lethal bullet is made of softer polyurethane plastic (TPU) or soft rubber. It has a cylindrical shape with a semi-circular tip. The bottom side of the front portion 1 is provided with an annular protrusion 1a which snaps into a groove 2a of the rear portion 2. In this way, the front portion is protected against falling out.
The rear portion 2 of the non-lethal bullet, which is made of harder polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) plastic, is circumferentially provided with vertical ribs 2b having an extremely thin connecting layer. This thin connecting layer breaks in flight (as soon as the bullet leaves the barrel) and wings are formed from the vertical ribs 2b, which open and slow down the flight of the rear portion 2 of the non-lethal bullet. The rear portion 2 with the formed wings is shown in Figure 3. Due to the slowing down caused by the wings, the rear portion 2 of the bullet falls to the ground at 5 m to max. 10 m from the mouth of the barrel, while the front portion 1 flies forward.
To ensure the proper weight of the non-lethal bullet before leaving the barrel, the filler 3 is inserted in the rear portion 2, which allows for the appropriate weight of the bullet and therefore also sufficient return energy for the operation of the weapon itself. The filler 3 located in the rear portion 2 may be a high-density powder (e.g. bismuth powder, tungsten powder).
After leaving the barrel, the rear portion 2 opens, the wings are formed and the filler 3 is scattered so that the non-lethal bullet loses up to 95% of its mass. In this way, the bullet partially disintegrates, and only the front portion 1 flies forward, which is soft and light and therefore non-lethal.
