Description
SEED BASED FORMULATION AND METHOD OF USE
TECHNICAL FIELD
The presently disclosed subject matter relates to a seed-based formulation and a method to use this seed-based formulation for skin care treatment, various cosmetics, personal use, such as a deodorant and sports powder, which can be used to control wetness.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] Talcum powder is a soft, white powder developed from talc or
magnesium silicate, a mineral composed primarily of magnesium, silicon
and oxygen. When it is finely ground, talc absorbs moisture and helps
reduce friction. Talcum powder poisoning may occur when someone
accidentally or intentionally breathes in or swallows talcum powder.
Additionally, it has been suggested that talcum powder might cause
cancer in the ovaries if the powder particles (applied to the genital area or on sanitary napkins, diaphragms or condoms) and thereby contact the vagina, uterus, and fallopian tubes to the ovary. In view of the potential risk of using powder with talc it is desirable to find an alternative
formulation for skin care treatment, various cosmetics, personal use, such as a deodorant and sports powder.

[0008] The presently disclosed subject matter relates to a seed-based formulation and a method to use this seed-based formulation for skin care treatment, various cosmetics, personal use, such as a deodorant and sports powder, which can be used to control wetness. The seed-based formulation includes the plant embryos of certain plants. The moisture absorbent seed powder product is made of a mixture of: 1) a long grain seed powder and 2) whole grain seed powder.
[0009] The long grain seed example is white rice. Long grain white rice is typicality four or five times as long as it is wide. Typical length
measurements for a single grain of long grain rice vary between about
0.27 to 0.35 inch (7 to 8 millimeters). Most of the long grain types grown today were developed from the rice type Oryza sativa var. indicia , the famous Indian basmati rice.
[00010] Plants include several parts: the bran, endosperm and embryo.
The embryo, during germination forms the roots and buds of the plant.
The embryo contains protein, minerals, Vitamin B Complex, Vitamin E, unsaturated fatty acids, fiber, folic acid and enzymes. The term whole grain seeds mean both sprouted and unsprouted grain before it has
been processed to remove plant parts. Whole grain seeds include but are not limited to Barley, Buckwheat, Bulgur, Brown Rice, Millet,
Oatmeal and Wheat.
[00011] The moisture absorbent seed powder product is made of a
mixture of: 1) a long grain seed powder and 2) whole grain seed powder, in a preferred ratio of 1 :1.
[00012] The present seed-based formulation is made by a process
involving: adding enough water to cover a group of two or more types of long grain seeds to form a first mixture. Similarly, adding enough water to cover a group of whole grain seeds to form a second mixture. The group of seeds generally ranges from 2-4 cups of seeds. However, any quantity of seeds can be used if the group of seeds is covered by water at the start of the process.
[00013] The next step of the process involved boiling the first and the
second mixtures typically for 60-90 minutes; cooling the first mixture to form a colorless liquid; separating any solid seeds from the colorless liquid of the first mixture; cooling the second mixture to form an opaque liquid; separating any solid seeds from the opaque liquid of the second mixture; combining the colorless liquid and the opaque liquid to form a third mixture; cooling the third mixture to allow the formation of a film; heating the film to form a porous material. Typically, the step of heating occurs in an oven at between 350-450 degrees Fahrenheit for between about 30-60 minutes. Cooling the porous material to form a residue. Typically the porous material is cooled for between 12-24 hours; crushing the residue to form a powder; drying the separated solid seeds of the first and second
