Washed dishes are sterilized by means of said UV light sources. Sterilization of dishes is of utmost importance in areas where kitchenware are used collectively and hygiene is critical, such as restaurants or hospitals. Dishwashers capable of sterilization are therefore preferred. In general, UV light sources are placed in the vicinity of spray arms. This enables them to dissipate light from an equal distance to the kitchenware placed in the washing tub. A UV light source can be controlled by means of the control unit of the dishwasher and may be activated according to the preference of the user. An electrical connection is established from the control unit to the UV light source in order to energize the UV light source. Electrical connection is usually enabled by cable lines. However, since there is continuous water circulation in the washing tub, presence of cable lines therein may be hazardous. This delimits the areas where UV light sources can be positioned, reducing the efficiency of sterilization.
