Abstract

The present invention relates to a secure packaging assembly (100) for holding articles of various shapes and size. The secure packaging assembly (100) comprises of an inner container (110) and an outer sleeve (120). The inner container (110) defines an internal cavity (23) for holding articles. The inner container comprises of a rear panel (11) comprising of a receiving channel (18), a left panel (12b), a right panel (12a), a left reinforce side panel (13b), a right reinforce side panel (13a), a top closure (21) and a bottom closure (22). The outer sleeve (120) comprises of a rear panel (31) comprising a locking fin (41), a front panel (33), left panel (34a), right panel (34b), and a bottom closure (43). The receiving channel (18) is 15 adapted to receive the locking fin (41) to slidably lock the inner container (110) within the outer sleeve (120).

Description

A SECURE PACKAGING ASSEMBLY
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to packaging, more particularly to a secure packaging assembly comprising of an inner container and an outer sleeve in a slidable locking arrangement.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In general packaging facilitates delivery of articles/ products to consumers. Packaging not only prevents physical damage of the articles/products during transportation but also has various other roles including promotion, providing information pertaining to the article, storage etc. Packaging can generally be classified in three broad categories i.e. primary packaging, secondary packaging and tertiary packaging.
Primary packaging is the layer of packaging that comes in direct contact with the article/ product. It is the first layer that envelops the article, for example bottle, can, jar, tube, etc. Secondary packaging can generally be described as the packaging that holds together the individual units of an article/product. Secondary packaging may be removed from the item without changing the qualities or attributes of the article/ product, for example paper and boards, cartons etc. Tertiary packaging is for bulk handling, warehouse storage and transport shipping. Secondary packaging is of prime importance as it intends to protect not only the product/ article, but also the primary packaging, which often is the packaging most visible to the consumer. Such type of packaging becomes even important in case of cosmetic and personal care products generally because of their fragile primary packaging. Thus, there is a requirement of a secure packaging assembly that securely holds articles such as deodorant bottles and the likes. OBJECTIVES OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the invention is to provide a secure packaging assembly for securely holding articles of various shapes and sizes.
Another object of the invention is to provide a packaging assembly comprising of an inner container and an outer sleeve in a slidable locking arrangement within the outer sleeve.
Another object of the invention is to provide an inner container defining an internal cavity for holding articles.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide an outer sleeve adapted to receive an inner container. Yet another object of the invention is to provide a foldable primary blank for forming an inner container.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide a foldable secondary blank for forming an outer sleeve.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide a secure packaging assembly which is simple and economical in its parts and is easy to pack.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention provides a secure packaging assembly for holding articles of various shapes and sizes.
In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention there is provided a secure packaging assembly for holding articles of any shape or size, wherein said assembly comprises: - an inner container formed of a foldable primary blank defining an internal cavity to hold said articles, wherein said inner container comprises of at least one receiving channel,
- an outer sleeve formed of a foldable secondary blank adapted to receive said inner container, wherein said outer sleeve comprises of at least one locking fin,
wherein the receiving channel of the inner container is adapted to receive the locking fin of the outer sleeve to slidably lock the inner container within the outer sleeve.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the inner container comprises of:
- a rear panel,
- a left panel,
- a right panel,
- a left reinforce side panel,
- a right reinforce side panel,
- a top closure, and
- a bottom closure.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the outer sleeve comprises of:
- a rear panel,
- a front panel,
- a left panel,
- a right panel, and
- a bottom closure.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the receiving channel and locking fin are on corresponding panel(s) of the inner container and outer sleeve respectively selected from the group of rear panel, left panel and right panel.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the receiving channel comprises of a receiving aperture of any suitable shape to receive the locking fin. In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the receiving channel comprises of a sliding channel to increase the sliding range of the locking fin.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the receiving channel is adapted to facilitate sliding of the locking fin vertically along its length.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the outer sleeve comprises of at least two inner container access apertures to grant a user access to the inner container to slide the inner container vertically out of the outer sleeve from a closed condition.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the foldable primary blank forming the inner container comprises: - a rear panel,
- a left panel,
- a right panel,
- a left reinforce side panel,
- a right reinforce side panel,
- a top flap and bottom flap foldably attached with the left panel,
- a top flap and bottom flap foldably attached with the right panel,
- a first top flap and second top flap wherein the first top flap is foldably attached with top of said rear panel and the second top flap is foldably attached with top of the first top flap,
- a first bottom flap and second bottom flap wherein the first bottom flap is foldably attached with bottom of said rear panel and the second bottom flap is foldably attached with bottom of the first bottom flap.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the second top flap and the second bottom top flap comprises of tongue.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the rear panel comprises of receiving channel and a pair of slots on the top and bottom of the rear panel adapted to receive the tongues.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the foldable secondary blank for forming the outer sleeve comprises of:
- a rear panel,
- a left panel,
- a right panel,
- a front panel,
- a side flap,
- at least two cut outs,
- a top flap and bottom flap foldably attached with the top and bottom of the left panel,
- a top flap and bottom flap foldably attached to the top and bottom of the right panel,
- a top flap foldably attached with top of the front panel, a first bottom panel foldably attached with bottom of the front panel and a second bottom panel foldably attached with first bottom panel,
- a top flap foldably attached with top of the rear panel, a first bottom panel foldably attached with bottom of the rear panel and a second bottom panel foldably attached with first bottom panel, - a locking fin foldably attached to the top flap of the rear panel. In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the cut outs form the inner container access aperture.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the cut outs are of any suitable shape preferably circular having its centre on folding lines.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the left panel comprises of sticking means of dimensions equivalent to the side flap selected from the group consisting of glue, adhesive tape and the like.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the top flaps foldably attached with the left, right, front and rear panels comprises of sticking means selected from the group consisting of glue, adhesive tape and the like.
In accordance with said embodiment, wherein the second bottom flaps attached with the rear and front panel comprises of sticking means selected from the group consisting of glue, adhesive tape and the like.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The preferred embodiments of the disclosed subject matter are described in more detail hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings. The disclosed subject matter may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the exemplary embodiments set forth herein. Rather, the exemplary embodiments are provided so that this disclosure is thorough and complete, and will convey the scope of the disclosed subject matter to those skilled in the art. Like reference numerals in the drawings denote like elements.
It is to be noted that, as used in the specification and the appended claims, the singular forms "a", "an" and "the" include plural referents unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. It should also be noted that the term "or" is generally employed in its sense including "and/ or", unless the content clearly dictates otherwise. It should also be noted that by the term "substantially" it is meant that the recited characteristic, parameter, or value need not be achieved exactly, but that deviations or variations, including for example, tolerances, measurement error, measurement accuracy limitations and other factors known to those skilled in the art, may occur in amounts that do not preclude the effect the characteristic was intended to provide.
Hereinafter, a secure packaging assembly will be explained in more detail. The same reference numerals are given to the same parts as those of the aforementioned embodiments and their minute explanation has been omitted.
Figure 1(a) depicts a secure packaging assembly (100) for securely holding elongated articles such as deodorant bottles and the like according to preferred embodiment. The secure packaging assembly (100) comprises of an inner container (110) and an outer sleeve (120). The inner container (110) is formed of a foldable primary blank (10), foldable primary blank (10) and the method of forming the inner container (110) is explained in detail later in the section. The outer sleeve (120) is adapted to receive the inner container (110) and slidably lock the inner container (110) therein. The outer sleeve (120) is formed of secondary blank (30), secondary blank (30) and the method of forming the outer sleeve (120) is explained in detail later in the section.
Figure 1(b) depicts the secure packaging assembly (100) in closed condition (lOOC). The outer sleeve (120) comprises of inner container access apertures (42) to grant a user access to the inner container (110). The inner container access apertures (42) facilitate the user to slide the inner container (110) vertically out of the outer sleeve when in closed position (lOOC) as depicted in the figure.
Figure 2(a) depicts the inner view of a foldable primary blank (10). The primary blank (10) is folded and erected to provide an inner container (110) according to the preferred embodiment; the primary blank (10) is preferably made up of paperboard or any other suitable packaging material having adequate flexibility and strength.
The primary blank (10) comprises of a substantially rectangular rear panel (11). Primary blank (10) further comprises, substantially rectangular left and right panels (12a) and (12b) adjacent to the left and right side of the rear panel (11) respectively and a left and right reinforce side panels (13a, 13b). The primary blank (10) further comprises of four trapezoid shaped glue flaps (14a, 14b, 15a, 15b). The glue flap (14a) is foldably attached along the fold line (2a) with the top side of the left panel (12a). The glue flap (14b) is foldably attached along the fold line (2b) with the bottom side of the left panel (12a). Similarly, the glue flap (15a) is foldably attached along the fold line (4a) with the top side of the right panel (12b) and the glue flap (15b) is foldably attached along the fold line (4b) with the bottom side of the right panel (12b).
Further, the primary blank (10) comprises of substantially square shaped first top flap (16a) and second top flap (16b). The first top flap (16a) is foldably attached along the folding line (3b) with the top end of the rear panel (11) and the second top flap (16b) is foldably attached along the folding line (3a) with the top end of the first top flap (16a). The second top flap (16b) comprises of a tongue (16c) projecting from its top side.
The primary blank (10) further comprises of substantially square shaped first bottom flap (17a) and second bottom flap (17b). The first bottom flap (17a) is foldably attached along the folding line (3c) with the bottom end of the rear panel (11) and the second bottom flap (17b) is foldably attached along the folding line (3d) to the bottom end of the first bottom flap (17a). The second bottom flap (17b) comprises of a tongue (17c) projecting from its bottom side.
The rear panel (11) of the primary blank (10) comprises of a receiving channel (18) cut out substantially of T-shape, the receiving channel (18) includes a receiving aperture (19) preferably square shaped and a sliding channel (20). The rear panel (11) further comprises of two slots (11a) and (lib) on the folding lines (3b) and (3c) respectively.
Figure 2(b) depicts the outer view of a foldable primary blank (10). The glue flaps (14a, 14b, 15a, 15b) comprise of sticking means selected from the group consisting of glue, adhesive tape and the like on the outer side. As depicted, the glue flap (15a) comprises of sticking means (5), the glue flap (14a) comprises of sticking means (6), the glue flap (15b) comprises of sticking means (7) and the glue flap (14b) comprises of sticking means (8). The primary blank (10) is folded and erected to form an inner container (110) according to the preferred embodiment as depicted in Figures 3(a-h) explained in detail later in the section.
The primary blank (10) is folded according to an exemplary non-limiting method described below: - folding the left panel (12a) and right panel (12b) inwardly along the folding lines (lb) and (lc) respectively to form an angle of 90° with respect to the rear panel (11),
- folding glue flaps (14a) and (15a) inwardly along the fold lines (2a) and (4a) respectively, folding the glue flap (14a) to form an angle of 90° with respect to the left panel (12a), similarly folding the glue flap (15a) to form an angle of 90° with respect to the right panel (12b),
folding the glue flaps (14a) and (15a) according to the preceding step exposes the outer side of the glue flaps (14a) and (15a) comprising sticking means (6) and (5) respectively at an angle of 90° with respect to first top flap (16a),
folding the top flap (16a) inwardly along the fold line (3b) to stick on the sticking means (5) and (6) and to form an angle of 90° with respect to the rear panel (11),
folding the second top flap (16b) inwardly along the folding line (3a) to insert the tongue (16c) through the slot (11a) to form top closure (21),
folding glue flaps (14b) and (15b) inwardly along the fold lines (2b) and (4b) respectively,
folding the glue flap (14b) to form an angle of 90° with respect to the left panel (12a), similarly folding the glue flap (15b) to form an angle of 90° with respect to the right panel (12b),
folding the glue flaps (14b) and (15b) according to the preceding step exposes the outer side of the glue flaps (14b) and (15b) comprising sticking means (8) and (7) respectively at an angle of 90° with respect to first bottom flap (17a),
folding the first bottom flap (17a) inwardly along the fold line (3c) to stick on the sticking means (7) and (8) and to form an angle of 90° with respect to the rear panel (11),
folding the bottom flap (17b) inwardly along the folding line (3d) to insert the tongue (17c) through the slot (lib) to form bottom closure (22), - folding the left and right reinforce side panels (13a) and (13b) along the folding lines (la) and (Id) to bring the left and right reinforce side panels (13a) and (13b) in a overlapping position.
Figure 3 (a) and 3(b) illustrate the rear view and front view of the inner container (110) according to the present invention. The inner container (110) comprises of a rear panel (11), a left panel (12b), a right panel (12a), a left reinforce side panel (13b) and a right reinforce side panel (13a) Figure 3(c) depicts the front view of the inner container (110) with open left and right reinforce side panels (13b) and (13a) to depict the internal cavity (23). The internal cavity (23) to hold articles is defined between top closure (21), bottom closure (22), left panel (12b), right panel (12a). Figure 3(d) illustrates an inner container (110) wherein an article is stored in the cavity (23). The article is pushed through the overlaying arrangement as illustrated in figure 3(b) of left reinforce side panel (13b) and right reinforce side panel (13a) causing the left reinforce side panel (13b) to lay on the left panel (12b) and right reinforce side panel (13a) to lay on the right panel (12a). Figure 3 (e) and 3(f) illustrate the left view depicting the left panel (12b) and right view depicting the right panel (12a) of the inner container (110). Figure 3 (g) and 3(h) depicts the top closure (21) and bottom closure (22) respectively.
Figure 4(a) illustrates inner view of a secondary blank (30) which is folded and erected to provide an outer sleeve (120) according to the preferred embodiment. The secondary blank (30) comprises of a substantially rectangular shaped rear panel (31), substantially rectangular shaped left and right panels (34a) and (34b), front panel (33) and a substantially trapezium shaped side flap (32). The left panel (34a) comprises of sticking means selected from the group consisting of glue, adhesive tape and the like preferably with similar dimensions as that of the side flap (32). Further, the secondary blank (30) comprises of a top flap (35a) of any suitable shape foldably attached along the folding line (26a) with the top end of the left panel (34a). The top flap (35a) comprises of sticking means (35d) selected from the group consisting of glue, adhesive tape and the like. A bottom flap (35b) of any suitable shape preferably trapezium foldably attached along the folding line (26b) to the bottom end of the side panel (34a). The secondary blank (30) further comprises a top flap (36a) of any suitable shape foldably attached along the folding line (28a) with the top end of the right panel (34b). The top flap (36a) comprises of sticking means (36d) selected from the group consisting of glue, adhesive tape and the like, a substantially trapezium shaped bottom flap (36b) foldably attached along the folding line (28b) with the bottom end of the side panel (34b).
The secondary blank (30) further comprises a top flap (37) of any suitable shape foldably attached along the folding line (27a) with the top end of the front panel (33). The top flap (37) comprises of sticking means (37a) preferably selected from the group consisting of glue, adhesive tape and the like. A bottom flap (38a) of any suitable shape preferably trapezoid foldably attached along the folding line (27b) with the bottom end of the front panel (33). The bottom flap (38a) comprises of a substantially triangular shaped flap (38b) foldably attached along the folding line (27c) and a locking slot (38c). A similar arrangement of bottom flap (39a) comprising locking slot (39c) and flap (39b) is provide at the bottom end of the rear panel (31). The rear panel (31) comprises of a substantially rectangular shaped top flap (40) attached along the folding line (29b) and a substantially square shaped locking fin (41). The flap (40) comprises of sticking means (40a) selected from the group consisting of glue, adhesive tape and the like. Further, the foldable secondary blank (30) comprises of at least two cut outs (35c) and (36c) to form the inner container access aperture (42). The cut outs (35c) and (36c) could be of any suitable shape preferably circular having its centre on folding line (26a) and (28a).
Figure 4(b) illustrates outer view of an exemplary secondary blank (30) which is folded and erected to provide an exemplary embodiment of an outer sleeve (120), according to the present invention.
The secondary blank (30) is folded according to an exemplary non-limiting method described below:
- folding the right panel (34b) inwardly along the folding line (25b) to form an angle of 90° with respect to the front panel (33),
- folding the rear panel (31) inwardly along the folding line (25c) to form an angle of 90° with respect to the right panel (34b) and to be parallel to the front panel (33),
- folding the side flap (32) inwardly along the folding line (25d) to form an angle of 90° with respect to the rear panel (31) and exposing the front side of the side flap (32) towards the left panel (34a),
- folding the left panel (34a) inwardly along the folding line (25a) to stick on the side flap (32),
- folding the top flap (35a) along the folding line (26a) to stick on the rear side of the side panel (34a) forming inner container access aperture (42),
- folding the top flap (37) along the folding line (27a) to stick on the rear side of the front panel (33),
- folding the top flap (36a) along the folding line (28a) to stick on the rear side of the side panel (34b) forming inner container access aperture (42), - folding the top flap (40) along the folding line (29b) to stick on the side of the rear panel (31),
- folding the bottom flaps (35b) and (36b) inwardly along the folding lines (26b) and (28b) to form an angle of 90° with respect to the left and right panels (34a) and (34b),
- folding the bottom flaps (38a) and (39a) inwardly along the folding lines (27b) and (29c) to lock around the slots (38c) and (39c) and sticking (38b) on the flap (39a) and sticking (39b) on the flap (38a) to form the bottom closure (43).
Figure 5 (a) illustrates the rear view of the outer sleeve (120) according to the preferred embodiment depicting rear panel (31). Figure 5 (b) illustrates the front view of outer sleeve (120) depicting front panel (33). Figure 5 (c) depicts the left view of the outer sleeve (120). The left panel (34a) of the outer sleeve (120) comprises of inner container access aperture (42). Similarly, figure 5(d) depicts the right view of the outer sleeve (120) comprising the right panel (34b). Figure 5(e) depicts the top view of the outer sleeve (120) open in order to receive the inner container (110). The flap (40) sticks on the inner of the rear panel (31) as depicted. Similarly, flaps (35a), (37), (36a) stick on the inner of left panel (34a), front panel (33) and right panel (34b). The locking fin (41) is received by the receiving aperture (19) of the receiving channel (18) of the inner container (110), when the inner container (110) is inserted in the outer sleeve (120). Figure 5(f) depicts the bottom closure (43) of the outer sleeve (120) wherein the flap (38b) sticks on the outer of the flap (39a) and the flap (39b) sticks on the outer of flap (38a) to form the bottom closure (43).

All such variations, modifications, and combinations are included herein by the scope of this disclosure and the following claims.

Claims

We claim:
1. A secure packaging assembly (100) for holding articles of any shape or size, wherein said assembly (100) comprises:
- an inner container 110) formed of a foldable primary blank (10)

- an outer sleeve (120) formed of a foldable secondary blank (30) adapted to receive said inner container (110), wherein said outer sleeve (120) comprises of at least one locking fin (41),
wherein the receiving channel (18) of the inner container (110) is adapted to receive the locking fin (41) of the outer sleeve (120) to slidably lock the inner container (110) within the outer sleeve (120).
2. The secure packaging assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the inner container (110) comprises of: - a rear panel (11),
a left panel (12b),
a right panel (12a),
a left reinforce side panel (13b) a right reinforce side panel (13a),
a top closure (21), and
a bottom closure(22).
3. The secure packaging assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the outer sleeve (120) comprises of: a rear panel (31),
a front panel (33), - a left panel (34a),
- a right panel (34b), and
- a bottom closure (43).
4. The secure packaging assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the receiving channel (18) and locking fin (41) are on corresponding panel(s) of the inner container (110) and outer sleeve (120) respectively selected from the group of rear panel (11), left panel (12b) and right panel (12a).
5. The secure packaging assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1 and 4, wherein the receiving channel (18) comprises of a receiving aperture (19) of any suitable shape to receive the locking fin (41).
6. The secure packaging assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, 4 and 5, wherein the receiving channel (18) comprises of a sliding channel (20) to increase the sliding range of the locking fin (41).
7. The secure packaging assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, 4, 5 and 6, wherein the receiving channel (18) is adapted to facilitate sliding of the locking fin (41) vertically along its length (L).
8. The secure packaging assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1 and 3, wherein the outer sleeve (120) comprises of at least two inner container access apertures (42) to grant a user access to the inner container (110) to slide the inner container (110) vertically out of the outer sleeve (120) from a closed condition (lOOC).
9. The secure packaging assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the foldable primary blank (10) forming the inner container (110) comprises:
- a rear panel (11),
- a left panel (12a),
- a right panel (12b),
- a left reinforce side panel (13a), - a right reinforce side panel (13b),
- a top flap (14a) and bottom flap (14b) foldably attached with the left panel (12a),
- a top flap (15a) and bottom flap (15b) foldably attached with the right panel (12b),
- a first top flap (16a) and second top flap (16b) wherein the first top flap (16a) is foldably attached with top of said rear panel (11) and the second top flap (16b) is foldably attached with top of the first top flap (16a),
- a first bottom flap (17a) and second bottom flap (17b) wherein the first bottom flap (17a) is foldably attached with bottom of said rear panel (11) and the second bottom flap (17b) is foldably attached with bottom of the first bottom flap (17a).
10. The foldable primary blank (10) as claimed in claim 9, wherein the second top flap (16b) and the second bottom top flap (17b) comprises of tongue (16c) and (17c).
11. The foldable primary blank (10) as claimed in claim 9 and 10, wherein the rear panel (11) comprises of receiving channel (18) and a pair of slots (11a) and (lib) on the top and bottom of the rear panel (11) adapted to receive the tongues (16c) and (17c).
12. The secure packaging assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the foldable secondary blank (30) for forming the outer sleeve (120) comprises of:
- a rear panel (31),
- a left panel (34a),
- a right panel (34b),
- a front panel (33), - a side flap (32),
- at least two cut out (35c) and (36c),
- a top flap (35a) and bottom flap (35b) foldably attached with the top and bottom of the left panel (34a),
- a top flap (36a) and bottom flap (36b) foldably attached to the top and bottom of the right panel (34b),
- a top flap (37) foldably attached with top of the front panel (33), a first bottom panel (38a) foldably attached with bottom of the front panel (33) and a second bottom panel (38b) foldably attached with first bottom panel (38a),
- a top flap (40) foldably attached with top of the rear panel (31), a first bottom panel (39a) foldably attached with bottom of the rear panel (31) and a second bottom panel (39b) foldably attached with first bottom panel (39a),
- a locking fin (41) foldably attached to the top flap (40) of the rear panel (31).
13. The foldable secondary blank (30) as claimed in claim 12 wherein the cut outs (35c) and (36c) form the inner container access aperture (42).
14. The foldable secondary blank (30) as claimed in claim 12 and 13, wherein the cut outs (35c) and (36c) are of any suitable shape preferably circular having its centre on folding lines (26a) and (28a).
15. The foldable secondary blank (30) as claimed in claim 12, wherein the left panel (34a) comprises of sticking means of dimensions equivalent to the side flap (32) selected from the group consisting of glue, adhesive tape and the like.
16. The foldable secondary blank (30) as claimed in claim 12, wherein the top flaps (35a), (37), (36a) and (40) comprises of sticking means (35d), (37a), (36d) and (40a) selected from the group consisting of glue, adhesive tape and the like.
17. The foldable secondary blank (30) as claimed in claim 12, wherein the second bottom flaps 38(b) and (39b) comprises of sticking means selected from the group consisting of glue, adhesive tape and the like.
