Abstract

The present invention relates to a laundry washer-dryer (1) comprising a body (2), a tub (3) in which washing-drying processes are performed, a drum (4) rotating in the tub (3), in which laundry items are placed, a detergent box (6) in which chemical cleaning agents are placed, having a tub outlet (5) transmitting water to the tub (3), and a piezoelectric steam generator (8) enabling applying steam on laundry items in order to remove the stains thereon.

Description

A LAUNDRY WASHER-DRYER COMPRISING PIEZOELECTRIC STEAM GENERATOR
The present invention relates to a laundry washer-dryer in which the laundry items can be pre-treated by a piezoelectric steam generator.
During daily use, general dirt occur on laundry items, as well as stains that may be difficult to remove may also happen in some instances. It is more difficult to remove these stains that occur due to various reasons, than general dirt. When a user desires to pre-treat the stained laundry items, he/she fills some water in a container or a basin, places the laundry items and detergent into the container with water and is then obliged to wash the laundry items by rubbing to remove the stains. General dirt on a relatively new garment can be removed by a washing program with a short duration or with less mechanical motion, but programs washing with equivalent intensity are insufficient to clean a garment with stains thereon besides general dirt. In this case, when more vigorous washing programs are selected, the unstained parts of the garment are unnecessarily washed with an intense program, wearing the garment more rapidly and increasing time, energy and detergent waste due to washing for an unnecessarily long duration.
The patent no. EP1369524 (B1), mentions a movable regional cleaning apparatus adapted on a washing machine, and the positioning of a tray formed for this apparatus to operate thereon.
The patent no. US6886371 (B2) relates to a washing machine comprising a regional washing apparatus.
The aim of the present invention is to realize a laundry washer-dryer in which laundry items are pre-treated by steam generated by a piezoelectric steam generator, enabling the difficult stains on laundry items to be removed.
The laundry washer-dryer realized to achieve the aim of the present invention comprises a water chamber provided in a detergent box, filled with water received from outside for washing or rinsing, a piezoelectric steam generator placed in the water chamber, enabling applying steam on laundry items in order to remove stains, and a fan and a steam transmission hose connected to the detergent box above the water chamber, enabling discharging the steam generated by the piezoelectric steam generator out of the detergent box and directing it on laundry items.
In an embodiment of the invention, the steam transmission hose extends outwards from an opening on the front face of the body. In this embodiment, a spray gun is mounted, connected to an end of the steam transmission hose, enabling regionally applying steam on the stained laundry items placed in a container. A rubbing apparatus such as a stationary, vibrating or rotary brush can be mounted on the end of the spray gun. While applying steam on the laundry items by the spray gun, the user can clean the stains by also brushing the laundry items by the rubbing apparatus.
In another embodiment of the invention, a pretreatment area is formed in the gap within the laundry washer-dryer door, and the steam transmission hose extends from the detergent box into the gap within the laundry washer-dryer door, and steam is applied by the piezoelectric steam generator on the laundry items placed in the gap.
The laundry washer-dryer realized to achieve the aims of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Figure 2 is a schematic view of a laundry washer-dryer in another embodiment of the invention.

The laundry washer-dryer (1) comprises a body (2), a tub (3) in which washing-drying processes are performed, a drum (4) rotating in the tub (3), in which laundry items are placed, and a detergent box (6) in which chemical cleaning agents are placed, having a tub outlet (5) transmitting water with and without detergent to the tub (3).
The laundry washer-dryer (1) of the invention comprises,
- a water chamber (7) provided in the detergent box (6), filled with water received from outside for washing or rinsing, and
- a piezoelectric steam generator (8) placed below the water chamber (7), enabling applying steam on the laundry items in order to remove stains.
The laundry washer-dryer (1) further comprises, a fan (9) and a steam transmission hose (10) connected to the detergent box (6) above the water chamber (7), enabling discharging the steam from the detergent box (6) and directing it on the laundry items. The steam generated by the piezoelectric steam generator (8) by using the water in the water chamber (7), is discharged from the detergent box (6) by the fan (9), and is directed onto the laundry items by the steam transmission hose (10).
In an embodiment of the invention, the steam transmission hose (10) extends outwards from an opening on the front face of the body (2). In this embodiment, the laundry washer-dryer (1) comprises a spray gun (11), connected to an end of the steam transmission hose (10), enabling regionally applying steam on the stained laundry items placed in a container (a basin, etc.) (Figure 1).
In another embodiment of the invention, the laundry washer-dryer (1) comprises a rubbing apparatus (12) such as a stationary, vibrating or rotary brush, mounted on the end of the spray gun (11), enabling enhancing the stain removal effect of steam, and the user can clean the stains by brushing with the rubbing apparatus (12) while applying steam on the laundry items by means of the spray gun (11).
In another embodiment of the invention, the laundry washer-dryer (1) comprises a door (14) enabling laundry items to be loaded into and unloaded from the drum (4), having an external glass and an internal glass of curved structure extending into the drum (4), provided with a gap (13) between the external glass and the internal glass, in which delicate and small-sized laundry items such as socks, baby outfit and the like can be placed.
In this embodiment, the laundry washer-dryer (1) comprises a steam transmission hose (10) whose one end is connected to the detergent box (6), extending from the detergent box (6) to the gap (13) inside the door (14), attachable to and detachable from the door (14) by a user when desired. Steam generated by the piezoelectric steam generator (8) is applied on the laundry items placed in the gap (13), by means of the steam transmission hose (10) extending from the detergent box (6) into the door (14) (Figure 2).
In another embodiment of the invention, the laundry washer-dryer (1) has an external cold water source, and cold water is filled into the water chamber (7) and cold steam is generated by the piezoelectric steam generator (8).
In another embodiment of the invention, the laundry washer-dryer (1) has an external hot water source, and hot water is filled into the water chamber (7) and hot steam is generated by the piezoelectric steam generator (8).
In another embodiment of the invention, the laundry washer-dryer (1) comprises a heater (15) placed in the water chamber (7) in the detergent box (6), and the piezoelectric steam generator (8) generates hot steam.
In another embodiment of the invention, the laundry washer-dryer (1) comprises an UV (ultraviolet) lamp (16) placed in the water chamber (7) in the detergent box (6), enhancing the hygiene effect of the steam generated by the piezoelectric steam generator (8).
In another embodiment of the invention, an odor capsule is placed in the spray gun (11) to further bring a refreshing effect to the laundry items.
In another embodiment of the invention, the steam generated by the piezoelectric steam generator (8), is directly applied on the laundry items in the tub (3) through the tub outlet (5) on the detergent box (6).
In the laundry washer-dryer (1) of the invention, a user can easily apply pre-treatment to laundry items in order to remove the stains thereon, by means of the piezoelectric steam generator (8). After rapid cleaning of the stained part, the entire garment is prevented from being unnecessarily washed for a long duration to remove the stain, and energy is saved by washing the garment in a shorter program. The garment is prevented from being damaged by being unnecessarily washed for a long duration, thanks to a less vigorous washing.

Claims (10)

  1. A laundry washer-dryer (1) comprising a body (2), a tub (3) in which washing-drying processes are performed, a drum (4) rotating in the tub (3), in which laundry items are placed, and a detergent box (6) in which chemical cleaning agents are placed, having a tub outlet (5) transmitting water to the tub (3), characterized by
    - a water chamber (7) provided in the detergent box (6), filled with water received from outside for washing or rinsing, and
    - a piezoelectric steam generator (8) placed below the water chamber (7), enabling applying steam on the laundry items in order to remove stains.
  2. A laundry washer-dryer (1) according to claim 1, characterized by a fan (9) and a steam transmission hose (10) connected to the detergent box (6) above the water chamber (7), enabling discharging the steam from the detergent box (6) and directing it on the laundry items.
  3. A laundry washer-dryer (1) according to claim 1 or 2, characterized by a steam transmission hose (10) extending outwards from an opening on the front face of the body (2), and a spray gun (11) connected to the end of the steam transmission hose (10), enabling applying steam regionally on laundry items.
  4. A laundry washer-dryer (1) according to claim 3, characterized by a rubbing apparatus (12) such as a stationary, vibrating or rotary brush mounted on the end of the spray gun (11).
  5. A laundry washer-dryer (1) according to claim 1, characterized by a door (14) enabling the laundry items to be loaded into and unloaded from the drum (4), having an external glass and an internal glass of curved structure extending into the drum (4), provided with a gap (13) between the internal glass and the external glass, in which small-sized laundry items can be placed, and a steam transmission hose (10) whose one end is connected to the detergent box (6), extending from the detergent box (6) to the gap (13) in the door (14), attachable to and detachable from the door (14) by a user.
  6. A laundry washer-dryer (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by the water chamber (7) being filled with cold water, and the piezoelectric steam generator (8) generating cold steam.
  7. A laundry washer-dryer (1) according to any one of the claims 1 to 5, characterized by the water chamber (7) being filled with hot water, and the piezoelectric steam generator (8) generating hot steam.
  8. A laundry washer-dryer (1) according to claim 1 or 2, characterized by a heater (15) placed in the water chamber (7) in the detergent box (6).
  9. A laundry washer-dryer (1) according to claim 1 or 2, characterized by an UV (ultraviolet) lamp (16) placed in the water chamber (7) in the detergent box (6).
  10. A laundry washer-dryer (1) according to claim 1, characterized by the tub outlet (5) provided on the detergent box (6), enabling applying the steam generated by the piezoelectric steam generator (8), directly on the laundry items in the tub (3).
