Description

Title: Painting equipment
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a painting equipment according to the preamble of claim 1.
As is well known, equipment used for painting indoor spaces in buildings consist essentially of trestles with wooden planks, stools, access platforms and small scaffolding to allow the operator, and/or the painter, to operate at a suitable height for painting the wall.
Such painting equipment generally comprises a metal structure comprised of a pair of front struts, a pair of rear struts provided with access rungs, a mobile landing provided with an anti-fall railing equipped with a bracket for hanging the paint box and an unfolding and folding mechanism which allows rapid, safe and easy positioning of the equipment, and, once that the painting operations are completed, its rapid folding in order to make the transport by hand possible.
The two pairs of front and rear struts, constitute the basis of the equipment structure which, owing to the shape of the structure and the wheels provided with, can be handled and moved manually in a simple, non-fatiguing and safe manner.
The current state of the art generally provide painting equipment which, owing to the particular structure thereof, both in the case of elements connected in a stable manner, such as access platforms and fixed ladders, or connected in a mobile manner, such as trestles with planks, exhibit practical shortcomings due to their overall dimensions or to the weight to be moved, such as the access platforms, or they do not ensure operational safety for the operator, such as in the case of the trestles provided with planks. In addition, some of these devices, when completely folded, exhibit overall dimensions which do not allow movements between the doors connecting the different rooms, and for this reason they must be dismantled also because the spaces in which painting operations are being performed are of limited height dimensions. In addition, it should be noted that the painter must go up and down several times for removing the colour from the drum, empty part of it into a small-sized bucket and get on the equipment to carry out the painting.
For all these reasons the operations are fatiguing, with an evident expenditure of energy, not to mention the low operational safety, which often causes falls and serious injuries.
Object of the present invention is to provide a painting equipment which is free of the drawbacks affecting similar products of the known type.
Specifically, object of the invention is to provide an equipment which, in addition to exhibiting a minimum overall dimension, also implies a functional simplicity for the laying and handling, not disjoined from considerable operational safety.
A further object is to provide an equipment exhibiting a compact and light structure, of reduced dimensions and, at the same time, also suitably sturdy, so as to allow the operator to work under optimal safety and stability conditions.
These objects are achieved by inserting, between the pair of struts of the equipment, an articulated mechanism consisting of a movable landing hinged on the upper part of the pair of rear struts, a pair of front struts, a pair of brackets provided with pins for releasing both the movable landing and the pair of front struts, whereby the two mutually opposed sidewalls of the brackets, hinged on the upper part of the pair of rear struts, are each tightly fastened to the inner walls of the pair of front struts, so as to allow the accurate folding of the equipment, i.e. the folding of the mobile landing, provided with anti-fall railing, on the pair of rear struts and the complete closing of the equipment by pulling the two pairs of struts together, so as to form a single package that can be easily and manually moved.
Operatively, when the equipment is completely folded and packed, the two pairs of struts are placed one above the other and the mobile landing results to be completely placed on the pair of rear struts, therefore the overall dimensions of the equipment itself can be minimized and the transport can be carried out by hand using a handle provided therewith, i.e. it is possible to push the equipment translating it on the bearing surface by means of wheels provided with.
Due to the effect of kinematical coupling described above between the pair of front and rear struts and the movable landing, the unfolding and setting to work of the equipment is realized in order to carry out the painting operations.
A hooking device placed on the structure of the anti-fall railing of the equipment allows the safe positioning of a paint drum or of the various tools necessary for painting, in order to prevent the operator from going up and down from the equipment for more paint or to take some tools.
Further advantages and features of the invention will become more apparent from the description of a possible embodiment thereof, given purely by way of non-limiting example, with the help of the accompanying drawings, wherein:
- - Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of the equipment according to the invention, in a fully open condition:
- - Fig. 2 shows a front view of the equipment referred to in fig.1 ;
- - Fig. 3 shows a front view of the equipment referred to in fig.l, in a totally closed condition; - Fig. 4 shows a side view of the equipment, sectioned along the line IV-IV of fig. 3;
- - Figs. 5, 6, 7 show front views of the equipment, respectively closed, partially and totally open;
- - Figs. 8, 9 show perspective views of the equipment, respectively closed, partially and totally open;
- - Figs. 10, 11 shows views of the open mobile landing.
As visible in the figures, the painting equipment according to the invention consists of a structure, overall indicated by the reference 1, consisting of a pair of front struts 2, a pair of rear struts 3, provided with access rungs 4, forming the ladder 100 and of a mobile landing 6, consisting of a base 6.1 and an anti-fall railing 6.2; the manual opening/closing movement of the pairs of front 2 and rear struts 3 and the overturning of the mobile landing 6 are obtained by means of an articulated mechanism, overall indicated by the reference 10, which comprises, at the plates 20, that form the two upper vertical walls of the pair of rear struts 3, inserting a pair of brackets, indicated by the references 11 and 12, arranged opposite to each other, and each being articulated at an end, by means of a pin 7, onto the corresponding plate 20 of the corresponding strut 3. Said brackets 11 and 12 being integrally fastened, by means of studs or welded to the plates 30, that form the two upper vertical walls of the pair of front struts 2 and wherein still said brackets 11 and 12 are provided, at the opposite end, with a catch 9 that connects both of the above-said brackets and that allows locking in a working position the mobile landing 6 through a pair of pins 14 contained inside the above-said catch 9. Said pins 14, driven through knobs 40, which adjust a mechanical/elastic mechanism contained inside said catch, project from the two ends in such a way that, when the mobile landing 6 that is hinged by means of the pins 8 onto the two plates 20 of the struts 3, is completely raised, said pins 14 are inserted into the corresponding holes 41, located on the base 6.1 of said mobile landing 6, thus locking it in the vertical position.
As can be clearly seen in Figures 1 and 2, the pins 8 of the hinged connection and the locking pins 14 between the mobile landing 6 and the underlying ladder 100 are located at the outermost ends of the struts 3 and the mobile landing 6 so that, when the structure 1 is completely open, two abutment areas are formed, respectively, in the contact area, indicated by "X", between the lower part of the plate 20 of the strut 3 and the upper part of the plate 30 of the strut 2 and in the contact area, indicated by "Y", between the end of the plate 20 and the end of the shoulder 6.3, which connects the base 6.1 to the anti-fall railing 6.2, thus increasing the safety of the equipment during its use.
In practice, with the above-said positioning of the pins 8 at the end, an extended floor plane "Z" is realized (see Fig. 1), that, in addition to the base 6.1, also consists of the last rung 4.1; additionally, due to the special structure of the pair of brackets 11 and 12, the pair of front struts 2 abuts on the corresponding pair of rear struts 3 and the mobile landing 6 abuts on the pair of rear struts 3, thus forming a compact package, where aforementioned three components 2, 3 and 6 are located mutually neighbouring and parallel, thereby occupying a reduced space with the minimum encumbrance.
In addition, the structure 1 is provided with a first pair of wheels 13.1 applied on the pair of rear struts 3 and/or a further pair of wheels 13.2 applied on the pair of front struts 2, for translating the equipment, both in an open and a closed position; in addition, supports 5 may be provided on the upper crosspiece of the anti-fall railing 6.2 to help hang the paint drum and the various tools necessary for painting. Operatively, as visible in the sequence of figs. 5-7 and figs. 8-11, due to the constructive solution according to the present invention, the three main elements, i.e. the pair of rear struts 3, the pair of front struts 2 and the movable landing 6, are allowed to fold as a package and, conversely, to move into the working position upon unfolding, with the equipment being arranged vertically, by acting initially on the pair of front struts 2, that is made to rotate by means of the hinges, being formed by the pin 7, until its upper end walls abuts on the corresponding walls placed on the upper end of the pair of rear struts 3; in a subsequent step, the mobile landing 6, which upon folding abuts on the upper wall of the pair of rear struts 3, is brought into an unfolded position by means of the hinge constituted by the pin 8, which is hinged on the pair of rear struts 3. Then, via manual movement, by means of the knobs 40, the pair of pins 14, which are arranged internally to the catch 9, is made to protrude, wherein said pins, engaged in the holes 41 located at the base of the mobile landing 6, thereby fasten the aforementioned mobile landing to the pair of brackets 11 and 12, thus preventing unintentional folding thereof.
The present invention is susceptible of modifications and variations and its technical details can be replaced with other technically equivalent elements; in addition, materials and dimensions thereof may be the most varied, according to the requirements, provided that all falls within the inventive concept defined by the following claims.
