Abstract

The invention relates to a multi-use exercise/conditioning machine, which is portable, compact, effective and comfortable, and based on a controllable rotary damper that uses smart fluids. The machine consists of a cylindrical casing containing a rotary damper based on smart fluid, a mechanism for retracting the chain or cable for pulling, and a source of power for supplying to the sources of magnetic field in the rotary damper. Various sizes and shapes of the device can be determined, based on the specific requirements of the application and the materials and technologies available leading to other embodiments of this invention. Even so, the drawings are clear enough to establish the operational concept and methodology.

El amortiguador rotatorio basado en fluido MR consiste de una carcasa 10 dentro de la cual un eje rotatorio sólido 11 se mueve. Los cables 12 conducen potencia eléctrica de la unidad de control de corriente 13 al amortiguador rotatorio basado en fluido MR. Una bobina de excitación 14 se pone alrededor de la carcasa 10 y corriente de la unidad de control de corriente 13 fluye a través de ella produciendo un campo magnético en paralelo con el eje 1 . The MR fluid-based rotary damper consists of a housing 10 within which a solid rotary shaft 11 moves. The cables 12 conduct electrical power from the current control unit 13 to the rotary damper based on MR fluid. An excitation coil 14 is placed around the housing 10 and current of the current control unit 13 flows through it producing a magnetic field in parallel with axis 1. The perforated curved blades 15 are connected to the solid shaft 11, and move through the MR 16 fluid producing an opposite torque due to the curvature of the blades 15 and the fluid moving through the perforations therein. The torque produced on the axis 11 can be controlled by varying the current flow to the excitation coil 14 which at the same time will change the resistance of the fluid to the movement of the perforated blades 15.

El atleta 24 está usando la máquina de ejercicio portátil 25 para un entrenamiento de pull-down fijándolo sobre su cabeza usando el accesorio 26. El atleta 24 sostiene la manija 27 unida a la cadena o cable de jalar 28 para realizar el ejercicio. En una aplicación de remo vertical, el atleta 24 se para en los componentes retractables de la máquina de ejercicio portátil 25 y sostiene la manija 27 que está unida a la cadena o cable de jalar 28 para realizar el ejercicio. Finalmente, para una aplicación de remo horizontal, el atleta fija la máquina portátil de ejercicio 25 usando el accesorio 26 y sostiene la manija 27 que está unida a la cadena o cable para jalar 28 para realizar el ejercicio. The fluid-based rotary damper ER consists of a housing 17 within which a solid rotary shaft 18 moves. The cables 19 conduct electrical power from the voltage control unit 20 to the rotary damper based on ER fluid. Excitation plates 21 are placed on the sides of the housing 17 and are connected to the voltage control unit 20 producing an electric field in parallel with the axis 18. The perforated curved blades 22 are connected to the solid axis 18, and move through the fluid ER 23 producing an opposite torque due to the curvature of the blades 22 and the fluid moving through the perforations therein. The torque produced on the axis 18 can be controlled by varying the voltage of the plates 21 which at the same time will change the resistance of the fluid to the movement of the perforated blades 22. Figure 5. Shows several applications of this embodiment of our invention using the chain or cable pull accessory. The athlete 24 is using the portable exercise machine 25 for a pull-down training by fixing it on his head using the accessory 26. The athlete 24 holds the handle 27 attached to the chain or pull wire 28 to perform the exercise. In a vertical rowing application, the athlete 24 stands on the retractable components of the portable exercise machine 25 and holds the handle 27 that is attached to the pull chain or cable 28 to perform the exercise. Finally, for a horizontal rowing application, the athlete fixes the portable exercise machine 25 using the accessory 26 and holds the handle 27 that is attached to the chain or pull cord 28 to perform the exercise.

REIVINDICACIONES

Máquina de ejercicio portátil multiuso con amortiguador rotatorio en la que el amortiguador rotatorio proporciona una resistencia controlable para la realización de ejercicios físicos, para lo cual comprende: una carcasa de geometría esencialmente cilindrica, un eje rotativo vinculado al centro geométrico de la carcasa un elemento giratorio vinculado perimetralmente a la superficie exterior del eje rotativo, un fluido inteligente dispuesto en el interior de la carcasa rodeando al conjunto formado por el eje y el elemento giratorio, unos cables de conexión con una toma de corriente, una unidad de control de corriente, y un elemento de excitación situado alrededor de la carcasa alimentado desde la toma de corriente por los cables de conexión. 1. Multipurpose portable exercise machine with rotary damper in which the rotary damper provides a controllable resistance to perform physical exercises, for which it comprises: an essentially cylindrical geometry housing, a rotating axis linked to the geometric center of the housing a rotating element connected perimetrically to the outer surface of the rotating shaft, an intelligent fluid disposed inside the housing surrounding the assembly formed by the shaft and the rotating element, connecting cables with an outlet, a current control unit , and an excitation element located around the housing fed from the outlet by the connection cables.
