Description

WIRE SHELF FOR USE IN AN OVEN WITH SIDE WIRE RACKS
The present invention relates to an oven. The present invention more particularly relates to an oven having a grill function.
Cooking appliances such as ovens are commonly known in the art. An oven generally comprises: a cavity for cooking the food; a heating unit for heating the food inside cavity; and a pair of side wire racks for supporting the wire shelf that holds the food. The side wire racks are disposed onto the side walls of the cooking chamber. Each side wire rack has one or more support wires for selectively bearing the wire shelf at different levels. The user mounts the wire shelf into the cooking chamber by means of the side wire racks, and places the food to be cooked onto the wire shelf.
WO2007077163 A1 discloses an oven.
A problem with the prior art oven is that the user cannot smoothly align and securely mount the wire shelf to the side wire racks. The user generally badly hits with the wire shelf the side walls of the cavity when mounting the wire shelf. In such incidents, the surface of the sidewalls can be easily damaged. Moreover, the frictional force between the side walls and the wire shelf impedes the mounting/dismounting of the wire shelf, and thus the user can easily skew the wire shelf and cause an accident. Such incidents are likely to happen when the cavity is hot and the user has to quickly mount/dismount the wire shelf so as to avoid excessive exposure to heat.
An objective of the present invention is to provide a wire shelf for use in an oven which solves the aforementioned problems of the prior art in a cost-effective way and which enables a smooth and safe mounting/dismounting of the wire shelf.
This objective has been achieved by the wire shelf as defined in claim 1, and the oven as defined in claim 6. Further achievements have been attained by the subject-matters respectively defined in the dependent claims.
The wire shelf of the present invention comprises: a grid for supporting the food; a wire frame which comprises: two side wires which are adapted to be slidably received onto the support wires respectively; a front wire which comprises at its opposite ends first rising sections which are step-like and joined to the front ends of the two side wires respectively, and between its opposite ends a sunken straight section to which the front of the grid is joined; a rear wire which comprises at its opposite ends first rising sections which are step-like and joined to the rear ends of the two side wires respectively, and between its opposite ends another sunken straight section to which the rear of the grid is joined; two alignment wires which are joined at their opposite ends to the first rising sections of the front wire and the rear wire on the left side and the right side respectively, wherein the alignment wires are further adapted to laterally contact the support wires respectively and to block the side wires against moving sideways during the mounting/dismounting operation.
A major advantageous effect of the present invention is that the wire shelf can be smoothly aligned and slid into and out of the cavity without jiggling and skewing the same by virtue of the alignment wires, and thus the risk of causing any accident can be eliminated or reduced as much as possible. Thereby, the wire shelf can be kept in a stable mounting position and prevented from dislodging. Another major advantageous effect of the present invention is that the wire shelf can be prevented from badly hitting the side walls during the mounting/dismounting operation by virtue of the alignment wires, and thus the risk of damaging the side walls can be eliminated or reduced as much as possible. Another major advantageous effect of the present invention is that the wire shelf can be stably mounted to the side wire racks by virtue the sunken straight sections which lower the center of gravity, and thus the food on the grid can be more stably held on the support wires. Another major advantageous effect of the present invention is that the wire shelf can be easily produced. Thereby, the overall costs can be reduced both in terms of material and labor. With the present invention, the user satisfaction can be increased.
