Abstract

A method for preparing hydrogen enriched water and beverages with boron contained materials has been described. It has been claimed that hydrogen enriched water with boron element prepared by this method will be able to deliver the synergistic benefits through the combination of Hydrogen and boron to improve health conditions of consumers.

Description

Method to prepare Hydrogen enriched water and beverage FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is directed to the method for preparing hydrogen enriched water and beverages which will be able to deliver the synergistic benefits through the combination of Hydrogen and boron to improve health conditions of consumers.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The benefits of hydrogen enriched water have been recognized for a long time [1 -3]. Human, animal, and cell studies shows that this hydrogen exerts beneficial effects via three primary methods.
It spontaneously reduces the toxic hydroxyl radicals in your body to water
It maintains the homeostatic levels of our body's own antioxidants It also has a beneficial effect on cell signaling, cell metabolism, and gene expression, which gives it anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, and anti-aging effects. There are many commercialized methods available to generate hydrogen enriched water. These methods either use electric power to electrolyze water for hydrogen [4] or use active metal to react with water to generate hydrogen [5-6]. But all these current methods for hydrogen enriched water are both complicated for daily use and expensive to consumers.
There are lot of patents related to the methods to generate hydrogen enriched water. Most of these patents are focused on the devices to generate hydrogen in water physically. (US 8038127 B2, EP 2902365 A3). There are lot of other type of patents to generate hydrogen by using controlled electrolyze water or by adding metal powder as tablets or chips to produce hydrogen (US 3348919 A, WO 2002014213 A2). On the other hand, boron is a vital trace mineral that is required for the normal growth and health of the body. Many dangerous conditions like arthritis and osteoporosis are naturally managed by boron, and it helps to reduce menopausal symptoms as well. It is believed that it improves the natural ability of the human body to absorb calcium and magnesium. There continues to be a need for the method which is effective, affordable and convenient for daily use to provide consumers with H2 enriched water at anywhere and anytime for consumers.
We have now surprisingly found that hydrogen enriched water can be prepared simply by adding Borane-ammonia complexes in regular water. Similar to C02 enriched drinks, hydrogen generated by this invention can be safely stored in self-pressured water bottles for normal storage. And hydrogen will be released once the bottle is open for drink.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is directed to water and water based beverage, including but not limited to:
About 0.001 to 5 % by wt. of Borane-ammonia complex(s) (preferably including borane ammonia); preferably present at a concentration of 0.005%, to 0.5 % by wt. and further preferably present at the concentration of 0.01 % to 0.1 %, is added in purified or natural spring water or other water based beverages. The water containing Borane-ammonia complex is then filled in gas-tighten bottle following the normal water packaging process.
Although not wishing to be bound by the following theory, it is believed that the Borane-ammonia complex added to the water phase will hydrolyze to release hydrogen gas in-situ. This hydrogen releasing reaction can be self-regulated by the concentration of borane-ammonia complex and the pressure built-up during the storage. Once the bottle is opened, nano- sized hydrogen gas bubbles will be released to enrich hydrogen with water. It is expected that these in-situ generated nano hydrogen bubbles should be able to facilitate the deliver Boron in body to provide synergized healthy benefits.
The Borane-ammonia complex (s) of this invention include organic or inorganic nitrogen containing compounds such as borane ammonia BH3NH3(CAS13774-81 -7); Ammonia Triborane, Borazine, Diammoniate diborane and Ammonium borohydride. It can also include metal borohydrides such as, but not limited to, Magnesium borohydride, Calcium borohydride, zinc borohydride and Titanium borohydride.
What is claimed is:
A method for preparing hydrogen enriched water, comprising the steps of: a. About 0.001 to 5 % by wt. of Borane-ammonia complex(s) (preferably including borane ammonia); preferably present at a concentration of 0.005%, to 0.5 % by wt. and further preferably present at the concentration of 0.01 % to 0.1 %, is added in purified or natural spring water or other water based beverages.
b. The water containing Borane-ammonia complex is then filled in gas-tighten bottle following the normal drinking water packaging process.
