Description

Cable guide
DESCRIPTION:
Technical filed of the invention
The invention relates to a cable guide comprising a cable holder that can be mounted around a cable, as well as coupling means for attaching the cable guide to an object, and a body to which the cable holder and the coupling means are connected. An object can be a rod or tube attached to a building. The body can be in any shape and ensures that the cable holder is located at a distance from the coupling means.
Background of the invention
Such a cable guide is well known. In both vertical and horizontal cabling systems, cable guides are used of which the primary purpose is respectively, to protect the cable against wear due to wind load and to prevent the (steel) cable from sacking.
Since both cable sv stems are used in combination with a fall arrestor, the known cable guides consist in most cases of:
a bracket with a tube fixed thereon by welding through which tube the cable moves, or
a rubber bracket where the cable should be pulled out when the fall arrestor has to pass the bracket.
Summary of the invention
It is an object of the present invention to provide a cable guide of the type defined in the opening paragraph which is simpler and cheaper than the known cable guide, and with which the cable can be clamped faster and more easily. To this end, the cable conductor according to the invention is characterized in that the cable holder comprises a leaf spring or wire spring that is bent and at several places is folded and that has a circular or tubular part interrupted at one place and two spring legs each with an end being attached to one of the ends of the circular or tubular part facing each other, which spring legs diverge from the circular part and at the other end are folded at right- angled or substantially right-angled, and that the body is provided with an opening in which the folded ends of the spring legs are present, the folded parts hooking behind a boundary edge of the opening. This cable guide has a simple construction because a simple spring (preferably a bent and folded leaf spring) clamps and holds the cable, which spring can be easily attached to the body.
An embodiment of the cable conductor according to the invention is characterized in that a part of the body forms a spacer element which is present between the spring legs of the spring and is provided with a side which at the location of the interruption is present in the circular or tubular part. This spacer element ensures that the spring cannot be moved and the cable is held in place.
A further embodiment of the cable conductor according to the invention is characterized in that the body is formed of a flat plate provided with a U-shaped cut wherein the pari of the plate on the outside of the cut is folded and forms the spacer element and the part within the cut is provided with the opening. By performing the body in this way, the body can be produced cheaply.
Yet a further embodiment of the cable conductor according to the invention is characterized in that the cable guide comprises a locking element which is present between the spring legs. This locking element prevents the spring legs from bending towards each other and prevents the folded parts to leave the position behind the boundary edge of the opening.
Brief description of the drawings The invention will be further elucidated below on the basis of drawings.
These drawings show an embodiment of the cable guide according to the present invention. In the drawings:
Figure 1 shows an embodiment of the cable guide in perspective;
Figure 2 is a side view of the cable guide shown in Figure 1 ; and
Figure 3 shows the cable guide shown in Figure 1 in front view.
Detailed description of the drawings In Figs. 1-3, an embodiment of the cable guide according to the invention is shown in perspective, side view and plan view, respectively. The cable guide is suitable for both a system where the cable extends horizontally and for a system where the cable extends vertically. The cable guide 1 has a cable holder 3 which can be fitted around a cable and coupling means 5 for attaching the cable guide to an object. A body 7 holds the cable holder and the coupling means spaced apart so that the cable holder is present at a distance from the object during use.
The cable holder is formed by a bent and at several places folded leaf spring and has a tubular part 9 with a circular cross section interrupted at a position 11. Two spring legs 13 are attached to the ends at the intersection facing each other. The other ends 15 of the spring legs are folded right-angled. The body 7 is provided with an opening 17 in which the folded ends 15 of the spring legs 13 are present and the folded parts hook behind a boundary edge 19 of the opening. The spring legs 13 diverge from the tubular member 9.
The body 7 is formed by a right-angled folded strip of which in one of the parts that are perpendicular to each other two holes are present through which threaded ends of a U-shaped bracket 21 protrude. The bracket is part of the coupling means 5 for fastening the cable guide to an object. At the threaded ends there are nuts 23 which allow the bracket to be pulled firmly against an object. In the other one of the parts of the strip that are perpendicular to each other, a U-shaped cut is present. The part of the strip on the outside of the cut is folded right-angled and forms a spacer element 25. The part 27 within the cut is provided with the opening 17. The spacer element 25 is present between the spring legs 13 of the spring and is provided with a side 29 which is present at the location of the interruption 11 in the tubular part 9.
The cable guide may also be provided with a locking element which is present between the spring legs and prevents the spring legs from being bent towards each other and the folded parts from getting away from the position behind the boundary edge of the opening.
The fastening of a cable using the cable guide according to the invention is as follows. The leaf spring (cable holder 3) is placed with the spring legs on the cable with the cable between the spring legs present. Thereafter, the leaf spring is pushed onto the cable with the spring legs bending apart and the interruption in the tubular portion of the leaf spring widens until the tubular member clings around the cable. Thereafter the spring legs are pressed together and inserted through the opening 17 with the folded ends. When the spring legs are released, the folded parts hook behind the boundary edges 19 of the opening. The leaf spring is locked in the direction perpendicular to the cable through the side 29 of the folded part (spacer element 29) of the strip (body 7) and the bent ends 15 of the two spring legs. The leaf spring may possibly be secured by, for example, pressing a spring or wedge in the opening between the two spring legs.
Although the present invention is elucidated above on the basis of the given drawings, it should be noted that this invention is not limited whatsoever to the embodiments shown in the drawings. The invention also extends to all embodiments deviating from the embodiments shown in the drawings within the context defined by the claims.
