Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de prolonger la vie d'un lubrifiant, comprenant le traitement d'un lubrifiant à l'aide d'un additif lubrifiant qui comprend un composé choisi dans le groupe constitué par l'urée, le carbonate d'ammonium, le bicarbonate d'ammonium et l'hydroxyde d'ammonium pour neutraliser les acides provenant de l'utilisation et/ou de la contamination d'une huile par combustion des condensats. Par exemple, le lubrifiant d'un moteur à combustion interne peut être traité in situ avec une solution aqueuse d'urée, de carbonate d'ammonium, de bicarbonate d'ammonium et/ou d'hydroxyde d'ammonium. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de prolonger la vie d'un lubrifiant, comprenant l'utilisation d'une source d'urée sur un véhicule qui est traitée et distribuée à bord à un lubrifiant pour traiter des espèces réactives dans le lubrifiant afin d'augmenter l'intervalle de vidange d'huile.
