Abstract

The invention relates to a control device for a vehicle having a number, i.e. one or more, driver assistance systems, comprising: a computing unit designed to calculate an occupancy grid for the surroundings of the vehicle from sensor data, said grid indicating whether a region in the vehicle surroundings is occupied by an object; and a map memory having a surroundings map of the vehicle surroundings, navigable regions of the vehicle surroundings being marked in said surroundings map, wherein the computing unit is designed to generate a surroundings grid by overlaying the occupancy grid and the surroundings map and to transmit this to the driver assistance systems for the purpose of controlling the vehicle. The invention also relates to a corresponding method.
