Description

SHORT TERM AEROSOL COMPOSITION FOR
MARKING OR DELIMITING ANY TYPE OF SURFACE FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is related to the industry of the manufacture of products used to landmark, to put up signs, to annotate or to delimit certain areas or distances in a short term or temporal way. More specifically, it relates to a composition for aerosol that allows to generate landmarks, signs or visible limits to long distances and that after a certain period of time disappears without leaving any type of spot or damage on the surface where it was applied.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In diverse activities of the human being there is needed for use some type of landmark (s) on a surface to indicate some limit, some position, some sign or some distance, with the objective to carry out a certain action or task; in some cases the action is not performed in a repetitive or permanent way then, the landmarks must be of the of short term or temporal type, being in some cases of high importance that the above mentioned landmark does not leave a visible permanent sign of its use as soon as the action has finished and the landmark on the surface is already not needed.
There are some reasons for which the short term or temporal landmark must not leave any spot or track of its previous existence, for example, among others: prevent confusion in later actions, prevent alteration of the surface appearance, and prevent surface contamination. Likewise, due to the fact that the surfaces on which the landmarks are usually placed can be of different nature, (for example: concrete, natural grass, synthetic grass, wood, plastic, carpets, marble, metal, land, clay) the components constituting the landmark must not produce any adverse effect on the surface.
Additionally, the short term or temporal landmarks must remain visible during the time on which the desired task or action is carried out and not to hinder the accomplishment of it and by this way, it can be conducted in a proper way, the temporal marking thus keeping its integrity and visibility according to the requirements of the task or action, among others, the landmark should be visible to long distances during the period of time that it is needed, without exhibiting a gradual degradation during the development of the task or action, which could give place to confusions or that the desired goals or results cannot be reached.
In some cases, the desired task or action requires the use of temporal landmarks to be placed outdoors, where the landmark is exposed to different environmental conditions as wind, sun, dampness or rain that can affect the integrity of the landmark or the rate on which said landmark disappears, which causes that the action or task that needs the use of temporal landmarks cannot be conducted in a suitable way. The ease of generating the landmark is also an important desirable feature, since the action or task may require quickly or even simultaneously drafting of multiple landmarks of different forms and sizes in a determined frame of time. For example, in the case of tasks that require landmarks drafted on horizontal or inclines surfaces, as the floor, upon the prior art the person drafting must assume an uncomfortable position, close to the floor or inclined, and also requires a tool or accessory to draft the landmark, such marking is difficult to draft and requires a long time to be completed.
An alternative has been the use of aerosols with diverse compositions that allow generate short term or temporal marks, avoiding the use of any tool, nevertheless, the drafting or elaboration of the landmark does not eliminate the need of the user to adopt an uncomfortable position or to incline to draft the landmark. For example, patent applications MX 2012000968 (Pablo Cesar) and US 2004/0221766 Al, (Heine) describe the use of foam compositions to landmark the distance to which a player must be placed in a football match, for example at the moment to execute a free kick. Nevertheless, these compositions require that the user should apply the product to generate the landmark at a distance among 2.5 cm and 30 cm from the floor in order to landmark over it, which in turn makes difficult to draft landmarks of big sizes. For example, for drafting a long straight line landmark, it is necessary that the user adopts a flexed uncomfortable position and walks keeping said position. As result, the landmark is not drafted in a correct because it is discontinuous or it is not homogeneous.
In some cases, it is required to draft landmarks of different colors, in this respect the products existing in prior art do not fulfill the wished effect of not leaving any spot or track of its existence, due to the fact that after the temporal landmark disappear remains spots of the color of the landmark, in order to remove such spots, it is necessary to wash the surface or, in some cases, to conduct another treatment on the surface to remove the spot, for example through the use of organic solvents.
The use of products of the prior art is not comfortable for the users and also the landmarks becomes blurred to the distance. This due to the fact that the produced foam has neither the volume nor the suitable dimension. Neither the products of the prior art achieve the homogeneity of the drafted landmark for reaching its better aspect.
AIMS OF THE INVENTION
One of the aims of the invention is to obtain a composition for aerosol that allows to generate short term or temporal marks, which are visible to long distances and in addition, a lasting effect of between 1 and 10 minutes, yet in climatological adverse conditions as high temperature, wind or dampness when the landmark is drafted in outdoors, but that also being able to vanish when it is applied in interiors. Other aim of the present invention is to achieve the previous aim in such form that the landmark can be drafted from a height of 1 meter from a horizontal or sloping surface, obtaining a homogeneous and constant landmark, facilitating the composition application to the person who drafts the landmark in a such way that is not necessary to perform any flexion or to adopt any uncomfortable position to draft the landmark.
Another aim is to generate short term or temporal landmarks with diversity of colors to improve the visibility of the landmark in surfaces where the surface color impedes its visibility, or when its desired to take landmarks of different colors because of diverse motives such as to contrast landmarks from others or when specific meanings are assigned to landmarks of certain colors.
And all those aims and advantages that will become apparent by the reading of the present description in combination by the compositions indicated in the examples that form a part member of the present description.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention, in one of its embodiments, consists of an aerosol composition that allows to generate short term or temporal landmarks in diverse types of surfaces, in such a way that the landmark has a certain duration that allows to perform some desired actions and after that, it vanishes without any remaining spot or evidence that it existed; the duration of the landmark is of among 1 to 10 minutes, the combination of the components that integrate the composition for aerosol, as well as the conformation of the discharge nozzle insert of the container in which the above mentioned composition is supplied, allows to draft the landmark to a distance of up to 1 meter from the surface in which the landmark is drafted, allowing to achieve a homogeneous landmark, avoiding that the user has to do any flexion or adopt an uncomfortable positions.
The qualitative composition comprises, in a basic way, at least a foam forming, that is to say, a surfactant, nevertheless, is clear that, for purposes of optimal marking, the resulting foam of the foam forming must have certain characteristics, for which, in other preferred embodiments, the composition must include other components.
In this regard, the basic composition additionally comprises, in other preferred embodiments, at least a foam stabilizer and at least one component that allows setting the lifespan of the landmark.
On the other hand, to facilitate the visibility of the landmark, in surfaces where there are no color contrast or where it is needed the use of landmarks of different colors or where there are assigned specific meanings to certain colors, in one of the preferred embodiments of the present invention the composition provides color landmarks, where the composition contains at least a compound providing color to the landmark. The composition of the present invention , in a preferred embodiment, includes at least one foam former and a foam stabilizer.
Regarding its toxicology, the composition of the present invention does not generate any adverse effect on the user who drafts the landmark or on those that, for the action to be performed, could be in touch with the composition producing the landmark, likewise it does not generate any adverse effect to the environment, including to the surface itself where the landmark is drafted.
The composition has the advantage that, due to the type of components included; it is not flammable, that results in no risk associated to its use.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention, in all its embodiments, achieves the aims raised in the above-mentioned chapter of the present description and some differences that later will become apparent.
The surface in which the landmark is drafted with the product object of the present invention can be of diverse substrates like for example, stone, wood, synthetic grass, natural grass, carpets, soil, metal, marble, floors covered with polymers such as epoxidic products or polyurethanes, plastic or glass, in a general way, it can be applied on any type of substrate, due to the nature of the components no adverse effect is generated on the substrate and as soon as the landmark has vanished, no evidence remains of the same nor damage on the surface substrate .
One of the preferred embodiments of the present invention includes at least water, at least the foam forming, at least one foam stabilizer and at least one propellant.
The foam forming is selected of between an alkyl sulfate, an alkyl ether sulfate or mixtures thereof. Optimally, it is preferred the use of some of the members of the group formed by the sodium lauryl sulfate, monoethanolamine lauryl sulfate, diethanolamine lauryl sulfate, triethanolamine lauryl sulfate, sodium lauryl ether sulfosuccinate, sodium lauryl ether sulfate, or mixtures thereof in a concentration in the composition of between 0.10 and 5.0 % in total weight.
Optionally, relations of between 1:3 to 19:1 are preferred when it is used a mixture of two foam forming compounds, wherein indistinctly are selected from the group comprised by the sodium lauryl sulfate, monoethanolamine lauryl sulfate, diethanolamine lauryl sulfate, triethanolamine lauryl sulfate, sodium lauryl ether sulfosuccinate, sodium lauryl ether sulfate.
The preferred foam stabilizer is an aliphatic amide of fatty acids, it is preferred the use of any of the compounds of the group comprising diethanolamides of fatty acid, cocodiethanolamide , monoisopropanol amide of coconut fatty acids, diethanolamide of oleic acid, diethanolamide of palm fatty acids or mixture thereof in a concentration of between 0.1 % and 5.0 % in total weight of the composition.
Optionally, relations of between 1:1 to 9:1 in weight are preferred when it is used a mixture of two foam stabilizers indistinctly selected from the group comprising diethanolamide of fatty acids, cocodiethanolamide , monisopropanol amide of coconut fatty acid, diethanolamide of oleic acid, diethanolamide of palm fatty acids or diethanolamide of coconut fatty acids.
Additionally the composition contains at least a propellant that allows in conjunction with the other components to achieve the wished effect of generating a temporal landmark, this one is selected from the group comprising propane, butane, isobutane or mixtures thereof. And the propellant is in a relation to the rest of the components of the mixture of between 1:49 to 1:2 in weight.
Optionally, when it is used a mixture of two propellants it is preferred relations of between 1:4 to 17:3 in weight, wherein, indistinctively they are selected from the group comprising propane, butane and iso-butane.
Optionally, when it is used a mixture of three propellants it is preferred a relation of between 1:2:3 to 20:1:2 in weight, wherein indistinctively they are selected from the group comprising propane, butane and iso-butane. Additionally, the composition can contain at least a foam duration term regulator in order to control the time of permanency of the landmark according to the action that is needed and the climatological conditions to which the applied foam can be exposed.
In the embodiment in which the composition includes a term regulator of the duration of the formed foam, this is selected from the group comprising glycerin for instances chemically pure (q.p.), technical degree, pharmaceutical degree or not refined degree; water soluble glycols, as the propylenglycol, or mixture thereof, in a concentration of between 0.01 and 4.0 % in total weight of the composition.
In addition, optionally the composition can have a selected color due to the presence of at least a component that gives color and at least a pH regulator, which allows to generate color landmarks with the advantage of any remaining landmark or permanent spot of the color unlike the colored foams or aerosols known in the prior art which produces permanent spots which requires later washing of the surface or even, the need of using organic solvents.
The provision of color marking under the present invention results in a higher applicability to the invention, since it is possible to use it in those actions or tasks requiring the use of landmarks of different color or where some particular meaning is given to specific landmarks of certain colors, with the advantage that the invention prevents the formation of permanent or lasting marks, it is to say, that the color vanishes together with the landmark.
The component that provides color to the landmark has the property of changing from a specific color to colorless depending on the pH of the composition, which do not allow that any permanent colored landmarks remain. The composition is stable enough to prevent the change of color during the required time for the landmark to be visible and stable. Thus, the color will be kept stable up to 10 minutes as the drafted landmark in turn vanishing at the same time that the rest of the components.
The component that provides color to the foam is selected from the group comprising 2,4- dinitrophenol, (3,3-bis-(4-hidroxyphenyl)-l-(3H)- isobenzofuranone, 3,3-bis-(4-hydroxifenyl)ftalide), trinitrobenzoic acid, (3,3-bis (4-hydroxi- 5-isopropyl- o - toly 1) ftalide , m-nitrophenol, nitramine, o- cresolphtaleine , p -nitophenol , or a mixture thereof in a concentration of between 0.001 % and 2.0 % of the total weight of the composition.
The pH regulator component of the composition is selected from the group comprising 2-amino-2- methyl- 1 -propanol(AMP) , 2 - dimethylamino ethanol (DMAE), diglycolamine (DGA), methylaminoethanol (MAE), monoethanolamine (MEA), triethanolamine (TEA) or a mixture thereof in a concentration of between 0.01 and 2.0 % of the total weight of the composition. In addition, the composition may contain at least a solvent that facilitates the incorporation of the component that provides color to the composition, is preferred the use of ketones, alcohols or mixtures thereof, even more preferred it is the use of ethyl alcohol, propanone or a mixture thereof and it is in a concentration of between 0.01 % and 5.0 % weight of the total weight of the composition.
The temporal landmark formed from the described composition is stable up to 10 minutes to a temperature of up to 50°C, in conditions of dampness of between 30 up to 100 % of relative dampness, for stable being understood that it preserves its volume, continuity of the landmark and therefore visibility to long distances, allowing to perform the action for which the landmark is needed. The modulation or adjustment of the component quantities allows to control the foam duration according to the needs and characteristics of the action or task for which the landmark is provided.
The composition object of this invention allows to generate landmarks with a volume of bubble controlled such that it is possible to visualize them from long distances and not to give place to any type of confusion regarding the position of the landmark.
The composition has the additional advantage of requiring a minor quantity of material, with respect to foams known in the prior art to generate a landmarks of similar dimensions, which results in the possibility of generating a bigger number of landmark units or requiring smaller containers to canning or packing the composition.
Another additional advantages provided by the composition of the present invention is not to need of the use of biocides since the composition is biological stable. Likewise, another advantage is that the composition of the invention is not flammable which eliminates the risk for the user who drafts the landmark and for those who use the landmarks; the inflammability of the composition was determined using the method ASTM D3065-01 "Standard test for flammability of aerosol products ", section 4 "flame projection test", the method indicated in the point 31.6 "Aerosol foam flammability test" of the document "Recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods, United Nations, 2009, Rev. 5" y the Directive 75/324/CEE from the European Union.
The composition is packed in a container for aerosol what facilitates its application, additionally the container and the valve associated to the activator has an ergonomic form to even more facilitate the application, the material of the container can be of steel, aluminum, plastic, PET or glass, the packages of aluminum are preferred due to its minor weight and higher resistance to the pressure.
The composition itself allows to generate temporal landmarks with each of the advantages and characteristics already mentioned, but additionally the effect is improved with respect to the height of application and the homogeneity of the landmark through the use of a discharge insert operatively associated with a valve activator for expelling aerosol, the discharge insert having an discharge orifice of a diameter of between 0.0254 cm to 0.1143 cm .
Example 1.
Four formulations were prepared using four different surfactants, separately, 1) lauryl triethanolamine sulfate, 2) sodium lauryl ether sulfate, 3) diethanolamide of coconut fatty acids and 4) cocodiethanolamide . Aqueous solutions were made to 2.50% of surfactant weight/weight, the aqueous solutions were packed in a container for aerosol incorporating a propellant. The result of the use of the surfactant 1 was a thin homogeneous foam as for the bubble size of 4 centimeters of projection width and an average foam volume, i.e. little volume to achieve the aim of visible landmarked from long distance .
The surfactant 2 also gave thin homogeneous foam with a width of 7.5 cm (too broad, meaning too much product sprayed) but with little volume, the foam duration was 1.75 minutes.
The surfactant 3 formed thick foam with poor stability (the biggest bubbles break rapidly), with a projection width of 3.5 cm, the volume of the foam was high and its duration average was 2.25 minutes.
The surfactant 4 formed thin not homogeneous foam (the line was thick in some sections and thin in others, 5 cm of projection width and average volume of foam) .
