Description
A GRILL CONNECTION SYSTEM Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a system which enables to connect the grills in order to enable a larger amount of air passage through the front bumper grill of vehicles.
Background of the Invention
In the state of the art, cooling the heated engine is performed by means of the air entering through the grills provided on the front bumper. To have a sufficient grill opening is an important condition for all vehicles.
During vehicle improvement studies, calculations and tests are made in order to provide entrance of sufficient amount of air through the front bumper grills. In all of the current systems, if the calculation and test results are negative, the grills are enlarged to increase air passage through the grills, i.e. the style is changed.
Necessity of more grills on the front bumper which substantially affects style of the vehicles brings along quality problems in terms of style, design and visibility of the inner part of the vehicle.
United States patent document no. US6343804, an application in the state of the art, discloses a front bumper design. The front bumper design comprises a front bumper grill and a front bumper opening. Air is introduced through the front bumper. The front bumper opening end and flange are not visible through the front bumper opening because they are covered.
Korean patent document no. KR20130004988, another application in the state of the art, discloses a vehicle front bumper. The front bumper comprises a carrier, a cooling module, and a bumper beam. The cooling module comprises a condenser and a radiator. The bumper beam is installed on the front of the carrier. The radiator is integrated type at an engine cooling area. The condenser unit includes header tanks, a tube, and a pin. The header tanks are separately formed in a constant distance. The tube's both ends are fixed to the header tanks.
Japanese patent document no. JP2011143867 (A), another application in the state of the art, discloses a front bumper grill. The front bumper comprises a lower grille, a condenser, an outer frame part, a plurality of fins and a guide part. The condenser is in the front part of the engine compartment. The lower grille and the condenser are arranged opposite to each other. Air passes from the condenser to the engine compartment. The plurality of fins are supported by the right and left ends of the outer frame.
Summary of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to provide a grill connection system which will prevent quality problems by eliminating the requirement of opening the grilles to allow sufficient air flow, and thus will allow making new designs in terms of style.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a grill connection system which provides a larger amount of air flow to the radiator group and which provides advantages in terms of design and quality.
Detailed Description of the Invention
A grill connection system developed to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which:
Figure 1 is a schematic view of the grill connection system.
Figure 2 is a view of the connection apparatus.
The components shown in the figures are given reference numbers as follows:
1. Grill connection system
2. Grill comb
3. Grill frame
b. Recess
4. Connection apparatus
a. Protrusion
5. Air channel
6. Vehicle cooling group
The grill connection system (1) of the present invention essentially comprises: at least two grill combs (2),
- at least one grill frame (3) for fixing the grill comb,
at least one grill connection apparatus (4) which has a protrusion on one end thereof for attaching one of the grill combs (2) and which has a "C" form section,
at least one air channel (5) which enables air to enter inside through the grill combs (2),
at least one vehicle cooling group (6) to which the air passing through the air channel (5) reaches.
In the grill connection system (1) of the present invention, the grill combs (2) are fixed by the grill frame (3) and the connection apparatus (4). The assembled
structure is such that a connection apparatus (4) is fixed between the grill combs (2), and a grill frame (3) is fixed to the lower and upper ends of the grill comb (2).
The connection apparatus (4) includes a protrusion (a) on one end thereof. The protrusion (a) is placed on the end part of the grill comb (2) and fixes the grill comb (2) to the connection apparatus (4). The end of the connection apparatus (4), which has a "C" form section, where the protrusion (a) is not located is fixed to another grill comb (2) by a preferred connection method. Thus, they are assembled such that there is a connection apparatus (4) between the two grill combs (2).
The air passing through the air channel (5) reaches the vehicle cooling group (6) (radiator, etc.). By means of the two grill combs (2), which are connected by a connection apparatus (4), and the air channel (5), the grill combs (2) are not required to be enlarged.
In another preferred embodiment of the invention, there is at least one recess (b) on the grill comb (2). The recess (b) is placed on the protrusion (a) provided on the connection apparatus (4) thereby enabling the grill comb (2) and the connection apparatus (4) to be fixed to each other.
It is possible to develop a wide variety of embodiments of the grill connection system (1) of the present invention. The invention cannot be limited to the examples described herein and it is essentially as defined in the claims.
