The aim of the invention is to design a rehabilitation device enabling effective treatment of scoliosis and spine deformations in patients who were injured in an accident and/or whose spines were deformed as a result of their occupation, or inappropriate posture or due to other causes such as idiopathic scoliosis.
An orthopaedic chair, in particular for scoliosis rehabilitation is characterized in that it comprises two, preferably parallel, main brackets connected with an upper transverse bar and a lower transverse bar. At least two rotatable roller assemblies are mounted both on each main bracket and to the upper transverse bar. Each rotatable roller assembly is provided for passing a string therethrough, said string having a counterweight at one end and a pad at the other end. The roller assemblies of each main bracket are mounted on said main bracket in a self-aligning manner horizontally towards the side and the roller assemblies of the upper transverse bar are mounted thereon rotatably in a horizontal plane. The base of the orthopaedic chair is mounted to the lower transverse bar. Each main bracket is equipped with a transverse crossbar enhancing the movement of the patient's arms.
Preferably each roller assembly comprises two rollers.
In another preferable embodiment the roller assemblies are mounted on the main bracket in a self-aligning manner by means of a pair of hinges.
In an alternative embodiment, the roller assemblies are mounted on the main bracket by means of an arch shaped extension arm.
The counterweight can be provided in the form of servo-motors and/or a spring and/or an automatic system with tensometers and/or accelerometers.
The orthopaedic chair may furthermore be equipped with a camera for providing data for biofeedback, including the possibility of telerehabilitation.
The advantage of the invention, apart from a simple construction and uncomplicated use, is mainly the possibility to adapt the chair to each individual patient by appropriate adjustment and using the roller assembly. It is possible to apply and remove the pads quickly, and easily adjust the elements , of .the. chair during treatment and select appropriate force in the form of weights. The chair is provided with a camera transferring data for biofeedback, including the possibility of telerehabilitation. Moreover, it is possible to use an application software for rehabilitation, e.g. in the form of a computer game.
The embodiments of the invention are presented in the drawings where:
Fig. 1 is a schematic front view of the orthopaedic chair construction, Fig. 2 is a schematic side view of the orthopaedic chair construction including the self-aligning roller assembly,
Fig. 3 is a schematic diagram of the orthopaedic chair including the strings, attached to the weights with one end thereof and to the pads with another end thereof,
Fig. 4 is a schematic perspective view of the orthopaedic chair in another embodiment, with the seat not shown,
Fig. 5 is a schematic view of a fragment of the main bracket with one arch-shaped bracket, and roller assembly is not shown,
Fig. 6 is a schematic top view of the main bracket including the arch- shaped bracket with the roller assembly.
The orthopaedic chair for scoliosis treatment is provided with two parallel main brackets K whose top ends are connected by means of an upper transverse bar Bpg and the bottom ends thereof are connected by means of a lower transverse bar BPd, wherein at least two, in particular three rotatable roller assemblies Z are mounted to each main bracket K and to the upper transverse bar Bpg. The roller assemblies Z are mounted to each main bracket K by means of a pair of hinges Za (fig. 2) in a self-aligning manner horizontally to the sides. The self-aligning angle range is 180 degrees thus creating a semicircle. Alternatively, (fig. 4 - fig. 6) the roller assemblies Z are mounted to each main bracket K by means of an arch-shaped extension arm W, along which each roller assembly Z can slide and be secured in a selected position. The roller assemblies Z are rotatably and mounted to the upper transverse bar Bpg in a horizontal plane, for example by means of a rotatable mandrel or another rotatable element. The base of the orthopaedic chair Pk is mounted to the lower transverse bar BPd. Moreover, each main bracket K is equipped with a transverse crossbar Bpr enhancing the movement of the patient's arms. The bottom ends of the main brackets K are connected with the support structure Kw.
Each rotatable roller assembly Z is provided for passing therethrough a string L, for example a steel or plastic string with a counterweight C on one end and a pad Pa on another end. The roller assembly Z comprises in particular two rollers Rb or Rg rotatably mounted on a common arm. The counterweight C may be a weight or servo-motors, springs or an automatic system with tensometers and/or accelerometers.
