The present invention relates to the technical field of Internet. Provided are a terminal, server, system and method for inviting a friend to watch a video. The method comprises: obtaining an instruction for inviting a friend on a current video playing interface; displaying the friend invitation interface according to the friend invitation instruction, and obtaining the information of a friend being invited from the friend invitation interface; generating an invitation message according to the video information; transmitting the invitation message to the terminal corresponding to the information of the friend. Using the described method, the present invention realizes invitation of a friend to watch a video, and ensures high efficiency of inviting due to the capability of allowing the play of the current video to not be interrupted and due to a simple invitation process, thus resulting in better user experience.
