Description
Multimedia station for the remote control and security of the territory
The invention regards a system of remote surveillance of an area to be protected, whether inside a building or an outside area, freely accessible to all. More precisely, the invention refers to a multimedia station for the remote control and security of the territory, more precisely indicated hereinbelow in the present description as a "remote control system".
Video surveillance systems, particularly for outside areas, have been known for some time. They generally comprise a surveillance camera, installed at the top of a pole or on the wall of a barrier, preferably in a position that is hard to access without suitable means, in order to protect it from possible vandalism. The surveillance systems provide for a cabinet on the ground containing the equipment units necessary for the functioning thereof, such equipment including devices for recording the images captured by the camera; then, the wiring and connection interconnections with the camera are installed. It is clearly understood that the installation of one such surveillance point is a long and difficult operation; in addition, the system thus installed has various problematic issues. The equipment units are vulnerable to theft, sabotage or vandalism, and in any case to deterioration due to weathering agents; wiring and interconnections are visible and hence can be easily tampered with; and the aesthetic and environmental impact of the system is unpleasant and particularly invasive in protected places.
Now, therefore, the Applicant has found that the described drawbacks can be
avoided with a new self-protected surveillance system, which integrates in a single device all the equipment units provided for said system.
Object of the invention is therefore a system for the remote control of the territory that comprises a plurality of electric and electronic equipment, which actuate at least three functioning modules, i.e. a power supply module for the system, a surveillance module and an alarm module, in which the aforesaid equipment units are inserted, pre-assembled together, in a single container that is substantially closed towards the outside and is provided with an input port for connecting said system to an electric power supply network.
Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will be clearer from the detailed description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of a system according to the present invention.
Such description will be set forth hereinbelow with reference to a preferred embodiment of said system, of which the following drawings are provided only as a non-limiting example:
- figure 1 illustrates an embodiment of a system according to the invention;
- figure 2 illustrates the block diagram of the system of figure 1.
Figure 1 illustrates the system according to the invention in a typical preferred embodiment. In the area to be protected, in this case an outside area, a pole 1 is installed, fixed in a foundation plinth 2 in order to ensure the stability thereof. At the top of the pole, a container 3 is fixed with any one known mechanical system. Such container 3 contains all the electric and electronic equipment necessary for carrying out the functions expressly provided for the surveillance of the affected area. An electric power supply line 4 is conducted to the top of the pole, preferably along a channel arranged inside the pole, for the power supply of the equipment units contained in the container 3.
The height of the pole can be selected as desired, but for the purpose of protecting the container from possible sabotage and in relation to the size of the area to be surveyed, its height is normally comprised between 5 m and 9 m, preferably on the order of 7 m. Naturally, the solution of the pole is not the only possibility: the container can be fixed in many other ways, for example on the wall of a building, or hung from a support arm projecting cantilevered from a
wall, and thus the area to be surveyed can be of any type: an outside area open to the public, an outside area that is inside an externally-closed property or an area inside a building. In the present description, with 'control of the territory' it is intended the surveillance of any area type. The equipment units contained in the container are functionally grouped together in modules according to the type of function carried out. Their structure is not illustrated herein since it is not particularly significant; they could all be represented by a parallelepiped with variable size. In addition, given that they are contained inside a common container, they do not require a single protection casing but can be easily obtained by means of printed circuit boards fixed on a suitable frame, hence with extremely limited size. With reference to the invention, the main characteristic is that of the exerted function.
In accordance with the invention, the aforesaid system for the remote control of the territory comprises a plurality of electric and electronic equipment inserted, pre-assembled together, in a single container 3 that is substantially closed towards the outside and provided with a port for connecting said system to an electric power supply network 4. Such equipment units actuate at least three functioning modules, i.e. a power supply module for the system, a territory surveillance module and an alarm module. In particular, the power supply module ensures the electric power supply to the equipment units also in case of failure of the power supply network, the surveillance module controls and records movements and intrusions in the protected area and the alarm module signals said intrusions and possible malfunctions of the system.
In its minimal embodiment, said surveillance module includes at least one surveillance camera and a system for recording the images supplied by said camera, said alarm module comprises at least one volumetric protection detector 6 and said power supply module comprises at least one centralized power supply unit, with power suitable for the power supply of all the equipment units, a battery and an ITF card for controlling said equipment units and for sending signals indicating the malfunctioning of such equipment. Preferably, the battery is a lithium battery, rechargeable and with long lifetime. Alternatively, according to a different embodiment, the battery is substitutable by a group of dry batteries,
operating with voltage of 15 Volt and capacity equal to 15 Ah.
According to the invention, all the equipment units are assembled together in the laboratory, where they are inserted directly in the container such that for the arrangement of the point of surveillance, external connection wiring is not required between the equipment units and the cabinet containing the devices for controlling said equipment units, as in the prior art.
More precisely, the container is a watertight container, approved for containing electric equipment units, which only have the number of openings necessary for housing the objective 7 of the cameras, projecting outside the container, the sensor 6 of the volumetric detector, it too projecting from the container, and a port (not illustrated) with the electrical attachments for allowing the electrical connection of the container to the external electric power supply network.
Preferably, the system according to the invention also comprises a telecommunications module, a services module and a supervision and control station for the entire system. Still more preferably, the volumetric detector (there may be more than one) is an anti-intrusion detector functioning with a triple-technology detection system, i.e. with infrared (IR), with microwaves and with a system that integrates the two technologies, IR + microwaves. This detector (A.2 in figure 2) creates a perimeter barrier for the protection of the system which makes the system substantially unbreakable. Preferably, the alarm module also comprises a heat detector (A.1 in figure 2) which signals and controls the temperature inside the container. More precisely, the temperature inside the container is continuously monitored and automatically controlled in real time.
Preferably the surveillance module comprises a plurality of cameras 5, four of which illustrated in figure 2, respectively C.1 , C.2, C.3, C.4, all connected with a local recorder of images (DVR - Digital Video Recorder) in digital format on Hard Disk (HD) with at least one 1 terabyte capacity, complete with four video inputs, alarm outputs for signaling movements in the protected area and provided with an interface for the connection to an Ethernet card. Each camera surveys the area under the lighting cone 8 of its objective, whose size depends on the possibility of tilting said objective with respect to the central symmetry axis. Increasing the number of cameras increases the size of the surveyed area: with
four cameras symmetrically arranged in the container, the radius of the area is preferably on the order of 50 meters.
Preferably, the telecommunications module comprises an Ethernet card (T.2 in figure 2) for the local connection via LAN with the video recorder, a broadband wireless module (T.1 in figure 2) for transmitting the images, a broadband antenna 9 (T.4 in figure 2) associated with said module, said module and antenna preferably operating at the frequency of 5.8 GHz, a bidirectional GPRS module (T.3 in figure 2) for the management of alarm signals and control signals and a GPRS antenna (T.5 in figure 2) associated with said module.
The aforesaid equipment units allow a dual manner for recording the images in real time, specifically both in the recorder of the system and on a remote server so that the preservation of the data is ensured even in case of failure or destruction of the container and the contents thereof.
Preferably, the services module comprises a system (S.1 in figure 2) for cooling the interior of the container comprising fans for the extraction of the hot air, a local bidirectional keyboard (S.3 in figure 2) with display for the programming and the local management of the video control system according to the invention and an ATI 4 module (S.3 in figure 2) with relay for specific actuations desired by the user, preferably the actuation of an optical and/or acoustic detector, the actuation and the control of the fan cooling system, the actuation of services desired by the user which require an immediate actuation in real time.
Preferably, the supervision and control station for the system is a station with multiprocessor that processes all the data pertaining to alarms, to equipment failure, to inappropriate temperature and to installation tampering coming from the volumetric and process detectors. In addition, it manages all the service devices, the actuator modules and control signals, and communicates via GPRS with the operative station to which it transmits all the monitoring information for the system and that necessary for the emergency operations.
The invention solves the stated problems and attains various advantages which increase the practicality and the security of installation and use of the above- described remote control system.
The system can be applied in all those situations where it is necessary to pro-
tect outside areas such as roads and squares, monuments, historic centers, ar- cheological zones, railway and airport yards, controlled waste collection sites, military sites, electrical stations and generally all places where a high level of security is requested.
The installation of the system is extremely quick and the base configuration of the system ensures most of the normally-required performances: in any case, the great modularity of the system ensures an extraordinary versatility of the system, which can be easily integrated with the most suitable devices for ensuring any requested level of security.
The structural compactness of the system makes it difficult to attack via theft, sabotage or vandalism and renders it effectively protected against damage by weathering agents.
In conclusion, the system offers low aesthetic and environmental impact; the container can assume any shape and any color in a manner so as to be integrated with the surrounding environment. For example, the container can assume a dome shape, like that illustrated in figure 1 , in order to blend in with the lamp posts that light the surveyed area.
In the present description, not all of the possible structural and size alternatives to the specifically-described invention embodiments were normally illustrated: indeed, it did not seem necessary to further discuss the structural details of the system of the invention since no man skilled in the art, after the instructions given herein, will have difficulty in designing the most advantageous technical solution, suitably selecting materials, size, hardware and software.
These variants are nevertheless intended to be equally comprised in the protective scope of the present patent, such alternative embodiments being per se easily derivable from the above description of the relationship that links each embodiment with the result that the invention wishes to obtain.
