Abstract
The present invention relates to a machine communication system and a communication unit. The machine communication system comprises a communication unit and a machine, the communication unit comprising a controller, n transceiver circuits, a detection line and a one-from-n switching circuit, each of the transceiver circuits respectively supporting one of n types of communication protocols, and comprising a first input/output terminal connected to the controller to receive data from the controller or transmit data thereto, and a second input/output terminal connected to a corresponding one of n independent input/output terminals of the one-from-n switching circuit; a common input/output terminal of the one-from-n switching circuit being connected to a first external connecting terminal of the communication unit, and a control terminal thereof being connected to the controller to receive a control signal; the controller receiving a detection signal from the machine via the detection line, and transmitting the control signal to the one-from- n switching circuit according to the received detection signal, to conduct a channel corresponding to the transceiver circuit supporting the communication protocols of the machine, so that the controller can conduct data communication with the machine by using the transceiver circuit via the first external connecting terminal. The present system allows to use multiple protocols such as CAN, J1939 and CDL using one wiring harness only.
