Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and a device for quantizing channel state information (CSI). An embodiment of the present invention provides a method for quantizing CSI by using a two-stage codebook, where the method includes: a base station selecting a matrix corresponding to each rank from a first-stage codebook of the two-stage codebook; the base station indicating to a user equipment (UE) the selected matrix corresponding to each rank in the first-stage codebook; the base station receiving from the UE a value of a rank and a matrix corresponding to the rank in a second-stage codebook of the two-stage codebook; and the base station determining, according to a combination rule of the two-stage codebook, a matrix of the quantized CSI based on the selected matrix corresponding to the rank in the first-stage codebook and the received matrix corresponding to the rank in the second-stage codebook. Compared with the prior art, the present invention provides quantization accuracy and greatly saves uplink and downlink resources.
