Description

A LAUNDRY WASHING AND/OR DRYING MACHINE WITH INCREASED WASHING/DRYING PERFORMANCE
The present invention relates to a laundry washing and/or drying machine wherein the performance of washing and/or drying the laundry inside the drum is increased.
In laundry washing and/or drying machines having drums rotating around the horizontal axis, in different steps of the washing program, the washing process is performed by the drum being rotated at different speeds. While the drum is being rotated, an uneven load distribution occurs as a result of the laundry piling up at some areas. Especially in the spin-drying step wherein the drum is rotated at high speeds, the unbalanced load resulting from the laundry and structural factors increases vibration and noise, and causes the laundry washing and/or drying machine to wear out. The spin-drying performance of the laundry washing and/or drying machine is adversely affected. Similarly, in laundry washing and/or drying machines with drying function, the laundry is required to be distributed inside the drum equally in every direction in order to perform the drying process effectively. In cases wherein the laundry is not distributed equally inside the drum and thus the hot processing air directed to the drum by passing through the drum inlet disposed on the rear panel cannot evenly contact all the laundry, irregularities in the dryness levels of the laundry occur and it is seen that all the laundry does not reach the same dryness level at the end of the drying. This situation also causes the drying times to be prolonged and the energy consumption of the laundry washing and/or drying machine to increase.
In the state of the art United States Patent Application No. US2004118168, a baffle with slides which can move upwards/downwards and which is used in laundry washing and/or drying machines is described.
In the state of the art European Patent Application No. EP2053152, a lifter is described which is disposed inside the baffle so as to move by means of the spring mechanism.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a laundry washing and/or drying machine of which the washing and/or drying performance is increased.
The laundry washing and/or drying machine realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a body, a drum wherein the washing or drying process is performed, a baffle connected to the inner peripheral surface of the drum and at least one agitator disposed on the baffle so as to partially rotate. The lever-shaped agitator enables the laundry inside the drum to be homogeneously distributed inside the drum by rotating around the support point (P) as a result of the rotation of the drum.
In an embodiment of the present invention, during the rotation of the drum, the first arm (A1) of the agitator extends towards the laundry in a position wherein the baffle remains at the top and the second arm (A2) thereof extends towards the laundry in a position wherein the baffle remains at the bottom. The center of gravity is on the first arm (A1). Due to the effect of gravity, the first arm (A1) whereon the center of gravity is located extends downwards and enables the laundry to be pushed into the drum by contacting the laundry when the baffle is at an overhead position during the rotation of the drum. During the rotation of the drum, when the baffle is at a bottom position, while the first arm (A1) whereon the center of gravity is located moves downwards due to the effect of gravity and momentum, the second arm (A2) extends upwards and the second arm (A2) contacts the laundry and enables the laundry to be pushed into the drum. Thus the laundry is enabled to be homogeneously distributed inside the drum.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the agitator comprises the second arm (A2) having almost the same length as the first arm (A1). The baffle is connected almost to the center of the agitator. Thus, the same pushing effect is obtained while the first arm (A1) contacts the laundry or the second arm (A2) contacts the laundry.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the second arm (A2) is shorter than the first arm (A1). Thus the rotation of the agitator at the support point (P) is facilitated.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the agitator comprises the first arm (A1) which is heavier than the second arm (A2). The first arm (A1) enables the agitator to move during the rotation of the drum with the effect of gravity. Thus, the agitator contacts the laundry at least once during at least the partial rotation of the drum and enables the laundry to be pushed into the drum and to be homogeneously distributed inside the drum. Thus, the laundry is washed or dried more effectively by being agitated without piling up at a certain point inside the drum due to the effect of the centrifugal force during the rotation of the drum.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the laundry washing and/or drying machine comprises at least two baffles having the agitator the heavier arm of which faces the rear of the drum and the agitator the heavier arm of which faces the front side of the drum. The first arm (A1) disposed on one of the baffles extending in the horizontal plane inside the drum and disposed inside the drum such that a distance remains therebetween and the first arm (A1) disposed on the other baffle face opposite directions. Thus, the laundry inside the drum is enabled to be moved more effectively.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the laundry washing and/or drying machine comprises at least two baffles wherein the first arm (A1) that is heavier than the second arm (A2) faces the clockwise direction in one of the baffles and faces the counterclockwise direction in the other with respect to the rotational axis of the drum. When the agitator situated on the baffle so as to rotate around the horizontal axis of the baffle is viewed from the front side of the drum, at least two baffles are seen, one comprising the first arm (A1) in the clockwise direction and the other comprising the first arm (A1) in the counterclockwise direction. Thus, the laundry inside the drum is pushed into the drum from different directions on the baffle.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the agitator comprises at least one block disposed on the first arm (A1) or the second arm (A2). By means of the block, the rotation of the agitator around the support point (P) is facilitated.
In a derivative of this embodiment, the block is movably disposed inside the agitator.
In a derivative of this embodiment, the block is shaped as a sphere. Thus, the block can move inside the agitator more easily.
In a derivative of this embodiment, the block is liquid. Thanks to its fluid structure, the liquid block can move inside the agitator more easily.
In the laundry washing and/or drying machine of the present invention, the laundry placed in the laundry washing and/or drying machine to be washed and/or dried is pushed into the drum and thus the laundry is enabled to be homogeneously washed and dried.
The laundry washing and/or drying machine realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figure, where:
Figure 1 – is the schematic view of a laundry washing and/or drying machine.
The elements illustrated in the figure are numbered as follows:
  1. Laundry washing and/or drying machine
  2. Body
  3. Drum
  4. Baffle
  5. Agitator
  6. Block
  7. Housing
The laundry washing and/or drying machine (1) comprises a body (2), a drum (3) wherein the washing or drying process is performed and one or more than one baffle (4) disposed on the drum (3) inner wall and protruding into the drum (3).
The laundry washing and/or drying machine (1) furthermore comprises one or more than one agitator (5) that is placed longitudinally on the baffle (4), that is pivotably mounted to the baffle (4) so as to partially rotate around a fixed support point (P), that has a first arm (A1) extending to the right of the support point (P) and a second arm (A2) extending to the left of the support point (P) and that enables the laundry to be homogeneously distributed inside the drum (3) by moving during the rotation of the drum (3). (Figure 1).
The drum (3) rotating in the horizontal axis during the washing or drying process comprises a baffle (4) that is connected to the drum (3), that is situated on the peripheral inner wall of the drum (3) and that extends in the horizontal axis into the drum (3), and the agitator (5) that is connected onto the baffle (4) and that rotates around the support point (P) during the rotation of the drum (3) contacts the laundry inside the drum (3) during the rotation of the drum (3) and enables the laundry to be homogeneously distributed inside the drum (3). By means of the lever-shaped agitator (5), the laundry inside the drum (3) is enabled to be agitated and thus to be homogeneously distributed inside the drum (3). Thus, the laundry is washed or dried more effectively by being agitated without piling up at a certain point inside the drum (3) due to the effect of the centrifugal force during the rotation of the drum (3).
In an embodiment of the present invention, during the rotation of the drum (3), the first arm (A1) of the agitator (5) extends towards the rotational axis of the drum (3) at a position where the baffle (4) remains at the top and the second arm (A2) thereof extends towards the rotational axis at a position where the baffle (4) remains at the bottom. The center of gravity is on the first arm (A1). Due to the effect of gravity, the first arm (A1) whereon the center of gravity is located extends downwards when the baffle (4) is at an overhead position during the rotation of the drum (3). During the rotation of the drum (3), when the baffle (4) is at a bottom position, the first arm (A1) whereon the center of gravity is located moves downwards due to the effect of gravity and momentum and the second arm (A2) extends upwards. Thus the laundry is enabled to be homogeneously distributed inside the drum (3).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the agitator (5) comprises the second arm (A2) having almost the same length as the first arm (A1). The baffle (4) is connected almost to the center of the agitator (5). Thus, almost the same pushing effect is created while the first arm (A1) contacts the laundry or the second arm (A2) contacts the laundry.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the first arm (A1) is longer than the second arm (A2). By means of the momentum effect created by the longer first arm (A1), the rotation of the agitator (5) at the support point (P) is facilitated.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the agitator (5) comprises the first arm (A1) that is heavier than the second arm (A2). The first arm (A1) enables the agitator (5) to move during the rotation of the drum (3) with the effect of gravity. Thus, the agitator (5) contacts the laundry at least once during at least the partial rotation of the drum (3) and enables the laundry to be pushed into the drum (3) and to be homogeneously distributed inside the drum (3). Thus, the laundry is washed or dried more effectively by being agitated without piling up at a certain point inside the drum (3) due to the effect of the centrifugal force during the rotation of the drum (3).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the laundry washing and/or drying machine (1) comprises at least two baffles (4) having the agitator (5) the first arm (A1) of which is heavier than the second arm (A2) and faces the rear of the drum (3), and having the agitator (5) the first arm (A1) of which is heavier than the second arm (A2) and faces the front side of the drum (3). The first arm (A1) situated on one of the baffles (4) extending in the horizontal plane inside the drum (3) and disposed inside the drum (3) such that a distance remains therebetween and the first arm (A1) disposed on the other baffle (4) face opposite directions. Thus, the laundry inside the drum (3) is provided to be moved more effectively.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the laundry washing and/or drying machine (1) comprises at least two baffles (4) wherein the first arm (A1) that is heavier than the second arm (A2) faces the clockwise direction in one of the baffles (4) and faces the counterclockwise direction in the other. When the agitator (5) disposed on the baffle (4) so as to rotate around the horizontal axis of the baffle (4) is viewed from the front side of the drum (3), at least two baffles (4) are seen, one comprising the first arm (A1) in the clockwise direction and the other comprising the first arm (A1) in the counterclockwise direction. Thus, the laundry inside the drum (3) is pushed into the drum (3) from different directions on the baffle (4).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the agitator (5) comprises at least one block (6) situated on the first arm (A1) or the second arm (A2). By means of the block (6), the rotation of the agitator (5) around the support point (P) is facilitated.
In a derivative of this embodiment, the laundry dryer (1) comprises a housing (7) arranged inside the agitator (5) and a block (6) movably disposed inside the housing (7). The block (6) disposed inside the agitator (5) preferably shaped almost as a hollow rectangular prism moves inside the agitator (5) during the rotation of the drum (3) and changes the center of gravity of the agitator (5). Thus, the movement of the agitator (5) on the baffle (4) is increased and the laundry is enabled to be homogeneously distributed inside the drum (3).
In a derivative of this embodiment, the block (6) is shaped as a sphere. Thus, the block (6) can move inside the agitator (5) more easily.
In a derivative of this embodiment, the agitator (5) comprises a fluid block (6). By means of the fluid structure, the block (6) can move inside the agitator (5) more easily.
In the laundry washing and/or drying machine (1) of the present invention, the laundry piling up at a certain point inside the drum (3) due to the rotational movement of the drum (3) is pushed into the drum (3) and thus the laundry is enabled to be homogeneously distributed inside the drum (3). Thus, the washing and/or drying effectiveness of the laundry washing and/or drying machine (1) is increased.
