Abstract

L'invention porte sur la production d'hydrogène. Dans un mode de réalisation de la présente invention, on utilise un système pour produire de l'hydrogène à partir de l'eau. Le système comprend une unité génératrice d'hydrogène couplée thermiquement à un moteur à combustion interne. En accord avec un mode de réalisation, la chaleur résiduelle du moteur à combustion interne et celle des gaz d'échappement sont utilisées pour convertir de l'eau en vapeur. La vapeur d'eau est envoyée à l'unité génératrice d'hydrogène où une électrolyse est exécutée à une haute température. Selon un aspect de la présente invention, l'unité génératrice d'hydrogène comprend une membrane entourée par des plaques en treillis métalliques et des électrodes pour exécuter l'électrolyse. Lors du passage du courant électrique, l'hydrogène et l'oxygène se dégagent pour constituer les produits finaux de l'électrolyse.
