Abstract

Filled polyimide shapes or parts having decreased void content are prepared containing polyimide-coated filler particles. The filler particles are coated with a polyimide precursor that has been end-capped, and the coating is then imidized. The coated filler particles may also be combined with additional polyimide precursor, which is then imidized in the usual manner. The resulting composite is used to form shapes or parts which are useful in, for example, aerospace, transportation, and materials handling and processing equipment applications.
