Abstract

The invention relates to a pulper for comminuting and suspending paper pulp, comprising a tank (11) having a lateral wall (13), in which tank the paper pulp can be comminuted and suspended by adding water, and comprising a body, in particular a rotor, arranged in the tank so as to be rotatable relative to the lateral wall. An annular gap (21) is formed between the lateral wall and the body (19), wherein the geometry of the lateral wall and/or of the body is selected such that the gap dimension of the annular gap at a particular circumferential position of the annular gap varies on the basis of the rotational position of the body relative to the lateral wall.
