Abstract

La présente invention se rapporte à un système d'échappement (18) destiné à être utilisé dans un moteur à combustion (10). Le système d'échappement peut comprendre un conduit d'échappement (26) configuré pour recevoir un flux d'échappement du moteur à combustion, et un catalyseur d'oxydation (44) disposé à l'intérieur du conduit d'échappement. Le système d'échappement peut également comprendre un injecteur de carburant (38) configuré pour injecter sélectivement du carburant dans l'échappement à un emplacement situé en amont du catalyseur d'oxydation, un capteur de température (54) configuré pour générer un signal indicatif d'une température d'un échappement circulant à travers le conduit d'échappement, et un dispositif de commande (52) en communication avec l'injecteur de carburant et le capteur de température. Le dispositif de commande peut être configuré pour réaliser une détermination sur la base du signal indiquant qu'une couche d'oxyde s'est formée sur le catalyseur d'oxydation, et pour réguler le fonctionnement de l'injecteur de carburant pour injecter du carburant et réduire la couche d'oxyde sur la base de la détermination.
