Abstract

The invention relates to a rotary piston machine, especially a rotary engine, comprising a shaft (13) and a transmitter disk (40) which is fixed to the shaft (13) for conjoint rotation therewith, said transmitter disk having a first structure (21 – 23) by way of which the speed and/or rotational position of the shaft (13) can be determined when a sensor (25) senses the structure. In order to simplify the design of the rotary piston machine the transmitter disk (40) comprises a second structure (50) with which a starter device (51 – 53) can interact, thereby setting the shaft (13) rotating.
