Description

Echangeur de chaleur à plaques soudées, et plaque constitutive d'un tel échangeur  Heat exchanger with welded plates, and plate constituting such an exchanger
The present invention relates to a welded plate heat exchanger, for performing a heat exchange between a first fluid and a second fluid flowing between the plates of the exchanger. This invention also relates to the plates constituting such a heat exchanger.
More particularly, the invention relates to a heat exchanger which comprises previously stamped metal plates, assembled two by two by welding on two opposite sides and thus forming stacked modular elements, the set of plates together forming an exchange block of parallelepipedic general shape. The spaces delimited between the plates belonging to the same pair, in other words to the same modular element, define a circuit for the first fluid. The spaces that remain between the pairs of consecutive plates, in other words between two modular elements, define the circuit for the second fluid.
Achievements of heat exchangers welded plates of this type, compact structure, are already known in particular by the European patent EP 0639258 B1 the same inventor, as well as the French patent FR 2901016 B1 (or its equivalent the international application WO 2007 / 132083 A1) also from the same inventor and constituting an improvement to the previous patent.
For this type of heat exchanger, there are currently several categories, depending on the configuration of the plates of the same pair. Each technique provides advantages in terms of maintenance, mainly for accessibility for the mechanical cleaning of the fluid circulation channels formed between the adjacent plates, or in terms of thermal performance, depending on the creation of turbulence and the intensification of heat exchanges in the fluid circulation channels.
The main existing categories of heat exchangers, of the type considered here, are the corrugated plate heat exchangers, also called "corrugated" plates, the plate-type heat exchangers linked by struts, also called "studded" plates, and the padded plate heat exchangers. these can be considered as a variant of the plate-type exchangers connected by spacers.
In the ribbed plate heat exchangers, each plate of a modular element has parallel ribs, giving this plate a corrugated profile. The ribs of a plate of the modular element have a direction different from that of the ribs of the other plate of the same modular element. When the two plates are brought together, numerous points of contact of one plate with the other are created on the extent of these plates, which makes it possible to obtain a constant spacing between the two plates. In addition, the ribs form undulations which oppose the flow of fluid between the two plates and which generate strong turbulence in this flow. The exchangers thus formed thus have a high efficiency. However, they have the disadvantage of having relatively narrow passage sections for the fluid and, given the many contact points between the two plates, to have a high risk of clogging or fouling, in certain applications and according to the fluids involved.
An example of a plate heat exchanger is given by the French patent application FR 2562997 A1.
In plate-type heat exchangers connected by spacers, the plates have spacers arranged on their extent, in a square or triangular-based pattern. Thus, during the stacking of such plates, one obtains fluid circuits whose thickness corresponds to the distance between consecutive plates, itself determined by the height of said spacers.
Such exchangers are easier to clean, and have virtually no risk of clogging. By cons, they remain relatively expensive because they must implement plates of significant thickness, as well as many spacers to ensure the mechanical strength of the modular elements. In addition, their thermal performance is much lower than that of the plate heat exchangers.
The padded plate heat exchangers comprise, on the extent of their plates, bosses arranged in a regular pattern. When assembling two plates arranged in opposite directions, the bosses of one plate come into contact with the bosses of the other plate, to form spacers connecting these two plates and fixing their spacing, the corresponding bosses of the two plates being welded together.
European patent EP 0639258 B1 discloses such an embodiment of padded plate heat exchanger, with frustoconical cup-shaped bosses, flat bottom, obtained by stamping.
Thanks to the welded connection of their bosses, the padded plates have the advantage of creating, for one of the fluids, a pressure-resistant circuit. In addition, the embossed bosses generate in the flow of fluid between the two plates turbulence quite correct, and thus provide performance close to that of the ribbed plates. In the case of these quilted plate heat exchangers, the circuit for the second fluid, delimited between the modular elements formed by two plates joined by their bosses, provides a perfectly free passage and can therefore be very advantageously used for highly charged fluids. By cons, this circuit has the disadvantage of having a thermal performance close to that of a flat tube, so relatively average. The quilted plate heat exchangers thus have superior performance to traditional tubular heat exchangers, but significantly lower than the ribbed plate heat exchangers.
The present invention aims to provide a welded plate heat exchanger which combines the advantages of the various categories of exchangers mentioned above, while avoiding their disadvantages, and thus the object of the invention is to create a heat exchanger which has a high efficiency. thermal, while maintaining the ability to easily clean its internal channels, this heat exchanger to be otherwise resistant to pressure and be conveniently and conveniently manufactured and assembled. The invention also aims to provide a plate for the formation of such an exchanger.
To this end, the subject of the invention is a welded plate heat exchanger, comprising metal plates, previously stamped, assembled two by two by welding on two opposite sides and thus forming stacked modular elements defining two independent circuits, respectively for one first fluid and for a second fluid, adjacent plates further having contact points distributed over the extent of these plates, the heat exchanger being essentially characterized by the fact that the plates comprise, on their extent, a part of the parallel ribs giving them a corrugated profile, and secondly bosses whose vertices lie in a plane containing the bases or the vertices of the ribs, two adjacent plates having ribs of different directions so that these two plates are in contact at the same time by the points of intersection of the vertices of their respective ribs and p ar the vertices of their respective respective bosses, the vertices of the bosses of a plate being welded to the corresponding bosses tops of the other plate.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the bosses of each plate of the exchanger have vertices of flat shape, located in the plane containing the bases or the vertices of the ribs of this plate.
The bosses are distributed over the extent of each plate of the exchanger, in a predefined pattern and with a more or less dense distribution. These bosses can, in particular, be aligned with certain ribs of each plate of the exchanger, and present themselves in this case as local interruptions, regularly spaced, of these ribs. For example, bosses are thus formed on one rib on two of each plate of the exchanger. Viewed in the direction of the ribs, the bosses may have a staggered arrangement, the bosses formed on a rib being offset, in this direction, relative to the bosses formed on the next rib encountered with bosses.
The two plates of a modular element must also be welded together on two opposite sides. The plates have, for this purpose, respective edges welded to each other, edges which are either located in the plane of the tops of the bosses, or bent at right angles to this plane.
As conceived, a heat exchanger thus made combines the particularities and advantages of the ribbed plate heat exchangers and padded plate heat exchangers. In particular, the exchanger according to the invention creates high turbulence as a traditional ribbed plate heat exchanger, while having excellent resistance to pressure due to the welded connection made between the plates, over the extent thereof . Thus, at least one fluid circuit of the exchanger is made very resistant to pressure, and therefore the effects of inflating the channels and the risk of fatigue breakage are avoided; this eliminates the limits to which traditional plate heat exchangers are subjected.
If the plates are assembled in pairs by their bosses, modular elements are obtained between which is formed a completely free flow channel, with a thickness of up to 25 mm, for the circulation of highly charged fluids, without risk of obstruction, while retaining the advantage of ribbed plates with respect to the creation of turbulence.
For operation of the exchanger at medium pressures, the ribbed and bossed plates provide an excellent compromise between the simply ribbed plates on the one hand, and the quilted plates on the other hand, by combining the pressure resistance to one of the fluid circuits, the free access for cleaning the other fluid circuit and a very high thermal efficiency.
In addition, the location of the bosses on certain ribs of the plates limits the impact of these bosses on the flow of the fluid, and makes the manufacture of the plates by stamping. In a particularly advantageous configuration in this respect, each boss located on a rib has a flat portion of square or rectangular shape, located at the base of the rib, and two opposing facets, generally triangular, located in inclined planes and joining the top of the rib.
The invention also relates to a metal plate specially designed for the constitution of a welded plate heat exchanger, as defined above, this plate having, on its extent, on the one hand parallel ribs conferring a corrugated profile, and secondly bosses whose apex is in a plane containing the bases or the vertices of the ribs, the vertices of the bosses of the plate being provided to be welded to the tops of the bosses of another similar plate .
Preferably, the bosses of the plate have vertices of flat shape, located in the plane containing the bases or the vertices of the ribs of this plate, which facilitates their welding on the bosses of another plate.
Advantageously, the bosses of the plate are aligned with certain ribs of this plate, said bosses being local interruptions, regularly spaced, of these ribs. The bosses can thus be formed on one rib on two of the plate, which then has an alternation of continuous ribs and ribs interrupted by bosses. Viewed in the direction of the ribs of the plate, the bosses thereof may have a staggered arrangement, the bosses formed on a rib being offset, in this direction, relative to the bosses formed on the next rib encountered provided with bosses.
De toute façon, l'invention sera mieux comprise à l'aide de la description qui suit, en référence au dessin schématique annexé représentant, à titre d'exemples, des formes d'exécution de cet échangeur de chaleur à plaques soudées et de la plaque constitutive d'un tel échangeur :  In any case, the invention will be better understood from the description which follows, with reference to the attached schematic drawing showing, by way of example, embodiments of this welded plate heat exchanger and the constituent plate of such an exchanger:

Figure 4 est une vue en perspective montrant des éléments modulaires consécutifs, dans une autre configuration d'échangeur de chaleur ;  Figure 4 is a perspective view showing consecutive modular elements, in another heat exchanger configuration;
Figure 5 is a perspective view showing, as a whole, a heat exchanger according to the present invention.
FIG. 1 shows two metal plates 1 and 2, of generally square shape, intended to be assembled together to form an element. modular 3, itself shown in Figure 2, which is intended to be stacked with similar elements to form a parallelepiped exchange block.
The plate 1, here described primarily, has on its extent ribs 4 and 5 parallel to each other and a diagonal direction of the plate 1, so that it has a general wave profile.
A rib 4 out of two is a continuous rib from one end to the other. The continuous ribs 4 alternate with ribs 5 which are interrupted locally, at regular intervals, by bosses 6 whose vertices 7 are situated in a plane containing the bases of the ribs 4 and 5. The set of bosses 6 has a provision in FIG. staggered, that is to say that the bosses 6 of a rib 5 are offset (in the longitudinal direction of the ribs) relative to the bosses 7 of the nearest ribs 5, the offset being equal to a "half-step ".
In detail, each boss 6 has a flat vertex 7, of square or rectangular shape, and two opposite facets 8 and 9, of triangular shape and located in inclined planes, the inclination of one of the facets 8 being opposite the inclination of the other facet 9. The base of each facet 8 or 9 triangular is in the plane of the vertex 7 of the boss 6, while the tip of this facet is at the top of the corresponding rib 5.
The other plate 2 has a configuration similar to that of the plate 1.
In the example considered here, the two plates 1 and 2 each have two flat and parallel first edges 10 and 1 1, situated in the plane of the vertices 7 of their respective bosses 6. Each of the two plates 1 and 2 also has two other edges 12 and 13, parallel to each other but perpendicular to the preceding edges 10 and 11, these other edges 12 and 13 having an offset zone, that is to say located at the from the base of the bosses 6.
For their assembly, the two plates 1 and 2 are arranged so that:
• les nervures 4 et 5 de la plaque 1 soient orientées perpendiculairement aux nervures 4 et 5 de l'autre plaque 2 ; • the ribs 4 and 5 of the plate 1 are oriented perpendicularly to the ribs 4 and 5 of the other plate 2;
• les bords 10 et 1 1 des deux plaques 1 et 2 soient mis en correspondance ; • the edges 10 and 1 1 of the two plates 1 and 2 are matched;
The other edges 12 and 13 of these two plates 1 and 2 are also matched, with their respective offset zones apart from each other. In this relative arrangement of the two plates 1 and 2, the vertices 7 of the bosses 6 of a plate 1 are also in correspondence with the vertices 7 of the bosses of the other plate 2.
The two plates 1 and 2 being close to one another, they are welded together along their edges 10 and 1 1, and at the vertices 7 of their respective bosses 6 which are brought into contact. The modular element 3 is then obtained in which the two plates 1 and 2 also come into contact at the crossing points of their ribs 4 and 5 - see FIG. 2.
On the two opposite sides formed by the edges 12 and 13, the offset zones of these edges lead to the formation of elongate louvers 14, allowing on one side the inlet of a fluid and on the other side the exit of this fluid.
Figures 3 to 5 illustrate stacking modes of modular elements 3 thus formed for the formation of an exchange block.
In the case of Figure 3, the modular elements 3 are spaced from each other. These modular elements 3, traversed by a first fluid, are thus separated from each other by completely free spaces 15, in which circulates a second fluid. The spacing and the maintenance of the modular elements 3 is ensured by the engagement of their angles, at the junction of the edges 10 to 13, in "combs" 16 provided with parallel slots 17 spaced appropriately.
On the edges 12 and 13, the modular elements 3 here advantageously comprise side panels 18 bent at right angles, which laterally close (on two opposite sides) the free spaces 15.
In the case of Figure 4, the modular elements 3 are tightened, the previously mentioned free spaces being removed. The two fluid circuits are in this case delimited by adjacent plates 1 and 2, coming into contact by their ribs 4, 5 and their bosses 7. The folded side panels are here removed, and the "combs" 16 have slots 17 closer together for the maintenance of modular elements 3.
The exchange block, thus formed, is itself placed inside a framework or a frame, comprising two parallel square plates 19 and 20 connected by four corner posts 21, as shown in FIG. 5, the side faces of this frame being closed by unrepresented panels or doors.
In a variant not shown, the edges of the plates 1 and 2 may comprise, on two opposite sides, respective edges folded at right angles and welded to each other, to constitute each modular element 3. It goes without saying, and as it follows from the above, the invention is not limited to the embodiments of this heat exchanger, and its constituent plates, which have been described above as examples; it embraces, on the contrary, all variants of implementation and application respecting the same principle. It is thus, in particular, that one would not move away from the scope of the invention:
- En modifiant la répartition des bossages ainsi que le détail de leur forme ;  - By modifying the distribution of the bosses as well as the detail of their shape;
- En positionnant et réunissant les plaques deux à deux suivant leurs bords par tous moyens, pour constituer les éléments modulaires ; - By positioning and joining the plates two by two along their edges by any means, to form the modular elements;
- By bringing together these modular elements by any means to constitute the complete exchanger.
