Abstract
This invention relates to a polymeric based anticorrosive coating which can be used to protect all ferrous and non-ferrous metal against corrosion under varied climatic conditions. The coating composition comprises thermoplastic polymer, fillers and additives. The Thermoplastic polymer having molecular weight in the range of 50000 to 200000 and molecular weight distribution in the range of 2.5 to 5 is prepared by polymerization of styrene based monomers, acrylate based monomers, methacrylate based monomers, maleic anhydride, solvents, mix of initiators & chain transfer agents. The resultant thermoplastic polymer is used to manufacture protective coatings to prevent corrosion of ferrous & non-ferrous metal surfaces in varied climatic conditions. Moreover, the composition is formulated to offer operational friendly applications such as quick drying at ambient temperature, single pack ready to use system applied with conventional application tools without primer application.
